Creative Thinking Week 4

1. How might you use the strategies for applying creativity to problems and issues in addressing this topic? I would have to apply the "finding new uses for existing things" for this topic the reason why is because California is planning to shut down its power pants so why not use the energy we have wasted into that plant and put it somewhere else such as local housing or local pants. As for the current spot where the plant sits we can reuse that spot to build a new and better plants that could last for many years and produce better and fast energy. The other creativity process I would have to apply to this topic is "improving things" the reason why is because we have the general idea down for having nuclear plants now if we can come up with a better and more money saving plan we could end up with a faster and more cheaper way to produce energy. Overall I believe these two fits best for the this current topic.

2. How might you use the strategies for promoting curiosity in addressing this topic? Why do you think these strategies might be effective? The strategies I would use to promote curiosity for this current topic would have to be "Ask and Answer Questions," also I would use the "Lose the Assumptions." The reason why these two are the one I choose is because I believe in this article there will be a lot of questions and when people assume things they will have more and more questions. I believe that if the general public were to lose the idea of assuming something then they can start to focus on more of critical thinking. When someone is asking questions then it show that they are showing interest in the topic. For example I wouldn't be asking question if I find the topic boring or if the topic doesn't catch my attention in any way. Therefore having these two strategies will help with this topic because when people drop the assumption they can start to ask themselves questions like," would shutting down this nuclear

    1) How might you use the strategies for applying creativity to problems and issues in addressing this topic? In the article that I wrote about it discusses the issue of how Essex County Executive, Joe DiVincenzo, was using his campaign funds to pay for personal expenses. According to the article the laws concerning this matter requires disclosure of all expenses, including those incurred on a credit card. It also states that from 2002 to 2011 DiVincenzo had approximately $250,000 charged to his personal credit card, which was paid with the campaign account, but never gave any explanation as to what the charges were for. The strategy for applying creativity that would best be used for this issue would be to devise or modify a process or system. Apparently, the laws that are in place for this matter are not specific enough, and there is a lack of enforcement. These laws need to be modified to make their…
