Creative Writing: Pit And The Pendulum
“Pit and the Pendulum Revision” “I shrank back- but the closing walls pressed me resistlessly onward. At length. For my seared and writhing body, there was no longer an inch of foot hold on the firm floor of the prison.” Closer and closer I was getting to the pit. I was thinking about everything that has happened. I didn’t want to die. It was too soon for me. Suddenly the walls stopped. I was confused and in shock. I heard a female voice, and it was a thick southern accent. She was telling me to fall into the pit and that everything would be ok. I asked her “ why would I fall into the pit? I don’t know who you are? All that would happen is me dying?” She said “ trust me I have a good idea if you want to get out of here.”
I came back questioning her “If you

Why did she want me to jump down here? I told her I was fine but just confused. I’ve been down here for 5 minutes now and I’d rather be dead than down in this hell hole. I hear her again with another question “What all is down there?” I told her I saw dead bodies, rats, and some bones. I told her what I saw and she excitedly told me to grab a bone. “Okay?” I said confused. At this point I thought that the lady was completely crazy. She was telling me to grab a bone and for what reason. The next thing I heard her say to me made me question some things. “Okay now I want you to dig your way out of the pit using a bone.” What is this lady talking about? How am I supposed to get out of here with a bone? She told me “you just have to believe.” This lady was absolutely insane at this point and I don’t know what is wrong with her. I started to believe though. After 10 hours of being in that pit I was starting to believe she tricked me. I decided to actually try now. Maybe make a shovel or a pick out of the bones. I successfully did it. It didn't work like I expected though. I didn’t know what to do at this point. It was useless. I was going to rot down here with the rest of the bodies. All the

After what felt like hours the tortured groan of the heavy iron door announced the arrival of an unknown guest. As the man walked in the room he turned and smiled at us causing me to scoff within Alice’s mind; “I hear that you’ve been hearing voices” the man asked in a sickly sweet tone. “Kill him” i sneer in the most sinister way and with a slight nod of the head my corrupted little puppet jumped at him tearing at the flesh of his meaty neck with her sharp little teeth causing him to stumble to the ground as he sputtered violently on the crimson liquid that spilt down his convulsing body. Alice then began playing with the man’s pulsing laceration as if a toddler were playing with their food while giggling manically. Only to be halted by a pair of hands wrapping around our body and violently throwing us across the cell all I could hear were the grotesque cracks as each bone broke and Alice’s sweet screams of pain as she is kicked across the room until she was nothing but a whimpering heap in the corner. “Die” the tall man screamed as he picked Alice up by the legs and slammed us against the cold walls of the cell with a sickening crack causing one final screech of pain from Alice to ricochet through the vile halls of the prison as she slumped to the ground with black oozing from her terrified eyes and her mouth that was left…

Once upon a time in a world where rabid squirrels viciously eat alpacas, three little alpacas sleepily woke up to terrible news. They were outgrowing their mother's’ home and were forced to build their own. Normally their mother was a very kind person and accepting of others, but she was getting tired of a cramped house.…

The saga of old Geo. Ochenski continues. As Geo. sat on his rock, watching the Cadillac, getting smaller and smaller, until it was just a dot on the horizon before it disappeared over the hilltop. He sat there for some time, with his head in his hands. Contemplating, about what the elderly gentleman had said. As wheels of the mind began to turn the gears of thought, 'old Geo could almost hear them groan' from lack of usage. Suddenly the old 25 watt incandescent light bulb, lite up. Somewhere in the dark shadowy corners of his mind, stirred an almost unheard of phenomenal, reasoning was taking place. In panic Geo almost shelved it in disbelief. Slowly, oh so very slowly it came to the front of his mind. But, in the dim light of the 25 watt bulb, Geo was unable to understand it. Geo shook his head, in an effort to clear it. But, as with most things, Geo tried to do, it ended in failure. In shaking his head, Geo had accidentally turned on, the other 25 watt bulb on the right side of his brain, which he almost never used. As the light became brighter, Geo was slowly able to make out the printing in bold red, black and blue crayon, the words on the jello (sic) paper he was holding. It said, in bold…

I had the opportunity to use a fancy studio in the Lower East Side gratis recently. It happened to occur in a time when I needed to make music more than at pretty much any other point in my life. I am truly blessed with some excellent friends. It was a harrowing time. It is without question the most emotionally honest thing I have ever been involved in making. Here's the first single.…

Summer was dead, but autumn had not yet been born when the ibis came to the bleeding tree. It's strange that all this is so clear to me, now that time has had its way. But sometimes (like right now) I sit in the cool green parlor, and I remember Doodle.…

We have explored a variety of writing styles with food as the central theme throughout. My first essay was an ode to steak, which took you through all the senses from the hint of smell to the first savory bite. The second essay was a deconstruction of meatballs and how my first true cooking experience came about. Next was an essay on the adventures of Chinese cuisine and the garlic phenomenon. The last essay was to capture and critique a moment shared with lobster. I am proud of all my essays. If I must choose a favorite; then I select “No Ordinary Meatballs”. The essays on steak, Chinese cuisine, and lobster were all experience-based accounts. These were unique accounts, which were sought out, in one form or another. However, my meatballs…

This story begins about the middle of April. One day after school me and my step brother Jaret, who was 19 at the time, decided that we wanted to learn to do a back flip on the old loud and rusted trampoline that sat in the yard, never used. We both changed clothes into something more comfortable and flexible. We went outside and got on the hot trampoline that had been sitting outside in the sun all day. We did some warm up front flips to get our blood flowing so we could be at the top of our flipping game. We were very scared to try this new trick we even watched YouTube videos on “how to do a back flip on a trampoline”. “Just go for it” Jaret told me as I bounced on the trampoline, trying to gain the courage to attempt this trick. I finally…

It was about that time to head over to the asylum. I was skeptical as to if this whole situation was real. I jumped into my car and drove down the long windy roads, until i came upon two humongous gates. On the gate was a crest of a needle injecting into a skull. This lead me to believe some pretty messed up surgeries or experiments went on in this sadistic place. The gates opened as I drove closer. The screeching shook my car. It seemed as if these gates hadn’t been opened in about one hundred years. The asylum was falling in on itself. This place had seen some things, unmentionable things. I parked my car and took a closer look at the asylum. I noticed that the sage was not here yet. So I wasn’t going to wait long, but i was going to give him a chance. Ten minutes go by and it seems that he is a no show. I decided to go ahead and head into the hellish building. I walked up to the door. I grabbed the handle. As soon as i touched the handle I was brought to the past. The sounds of crackling and the din of falling bodies and doors, the whistle and hiss of the flames, the deadly shouts of people, and the sight of the swaying knife, now gathering a thick coat of blood. I fell to my knees, as the vision ended. It took my breath away, but i wanted to keep going. I entered the asylum. I remembered a story my mom told me of a twelve year old boy who was diagnosed with schizophrenia apparently was also a pyromaniac. He would set small fires in his…

We were in there for about an hour, hearing screams, thuds, and cackles. We were to scared to talk to each other. I was crying, and I wasn’t sure if Stori was since it was pitch black but according to the little sniffles I heard, I assumed she was. I was about to fall asleep, when I heard everything get silent, then the door creaked open, it was a dark but I could see a little and from what I saw there was no one standing there. We waited a few minutes, then I Exclaimed,…

In a galaxy far, far away, there’s a colony of blue, short, chubby aliens called the Boovians. The Boovians are a peaceful colony that farm and trade goods to survive. Sadly, they are being threatened by a wizard alien named Fuldrik, who was banned from his previous planet because of his magic. Fuldrik found a way to “improve” his previous colony with a dark spell called, Brackish. This spell could give you the strength of ten men but would turn your skin green and bumpy. Your hands and feet would become scaly and rough. Your nails would grow sharp and turn yellow. This spell would also make your body smelling like garlic. Fuldriks previous colony despised his idea and banished him from his home planet, for he should never return until the…

"Where am I and what is going on?" I ask myself. It was dark, quiet, smelly, and there were nails and screws coming out of the walls. I got really scared. I looked up for 5 seconds and looked back down and there she was. The old lady that put me in here. She was at least 6'6" tall, with long, crazy hair, big, round eyes, with and fat, long nose, and really pointy ears. She told me to come out. I said "no!" "What do you want from me and why are you doing this to me?" I…

“What should I do?” I whispered softly to myself. Suddenly, I heard foot steps from outside the door. They were slow, steady foot steps that made a slightly loud thud with every step taken. The voice of a woman came to my ears, and for a few minutes I felt saved. She was alone, I could tell, and she must’ve been talking on a cell phone. Her voice was low and gentle. It was hard to make out what she was saying, but I strained my ears a bit more. This did nothing. I thought for a moment and started to move each part of my body one at a time. I moved my fingers, my legs, my feet and toes, my arms, and my head. My wrists were taped to the handles of the chair, but my feet were free.…
