“What’s the hold up?”
Realizing that she was not in her own world she blushed. She was holding up the rest of the soldiers behind her.
“Are we there yet?” Another asked.
“We keep heading east,” The commander said.
The army was under the guidance of a genderless commander. The army was under the guidance of a nameless commander. Always wearing a his/her Corinthian helmet made out of gold only leaving a pair of green eyes visible, a breast plate with no …show more content…
definition and standing at about 5’9, voice disguised making it nearly impossible for the troop to distinguish between male or female. Alongside the commander was a lofty woman; praised for stunning beauty rather than her 6’3 stature. Her name Aturmica, she possessed the attributes of a model, tall and very beautiful, she was often undermined because of her lanky body, lengthy slender arms, and no body definition. However in defiance of her being a lanky maiden, she is blessed with super strength. Ultimately being the strongest amongst the troop. Though she had no official title they considered her to be 2nd in command since she was always the commanders side. The woods did not provide any actual paths so they quickly became lost, and for two days they roamed the forest aimlessly. With trees high in stature towering over one another making daylight scarce. The depths of the vast forest overwhelmed the diminutive army of 75 that marched through, with horses pulling carts full of supplies, such as weapons, food and water. This particular army boasted a diverse cast. Men and women made up the small troop, you could say they are somewhat of special units team. With different backgrounds some offered more then just their battle skills. Few were gifted in special way while most were average day citizens wanting to defend the defenseless. Not prepared for their current situation, supplies became dangerously low.
Adonis had two companions, Orion and Malin. Orion was a huge brute, standing at 6’6 he was feared by several of the soldiers, in reality he was truly a sweet soul with a kind heart he was often confused on why people didn’t want to talk to him. He was very protective of Adonis, Malin and Carmen because they were the only one who seems to care about him. He was also a huge coward but he has yet to show that to anyone yet. Malin on the other hand was a small man with a short temper and can be very violent; he resents Carmen and wants her out the picture he perhaps is one of the very few people that take this whole mission seriously, everyone seemed to have their own agenda.
“Can you please turn him back?” Malin asked
“Your no fun Malin.” She said.
“Orion.” Carmen called out to the brute. She motioned for him to pick her up and bring her down.
“Agh, be gentle! Don’t you know how to handle a lady?” She said, making the man blush.
Carmen clenched up her fist and when she released it a cloud of smoke quickly shot at the horse returning the victim into a human. Mortified the victim whimpered and he ran away.
“I hate when you do that, it’s not natural.” Malin said.
“Shut it before I turn you into the swine you are.” Carmen said with fire in her eyes.
“Oh yeah I’ll have your head first.” Malin responded.
“You two stop it.“ Adonis said.
“He needs top stop talking to me like that.” Carmen cried. Adonis usually avoided conflict especially with Carmen, but he would not let his friends or people he cares about get hurt.
“Just please stop.” He said.
Adonis resented Carmen and he also feared her. After first meeting her and seeing what she was capable of he wanted to make sure that he was on her good side. He felt forced to court Carmen he didn’t want to be turned into a rat like she once threatened him. He’s been more afraid of her recently especially since there have been rumors going around.
Another woman who stood out in particular was an Afro Egyptian woman who had an interesting attire on. Her helmet was shaped like a falcon or some type of aggressive bird. She carried a mace kept to herself brute Orion smiled at her she grunted back. She didn’t want to talk to anyone so they left her alone even Carmen avoided her.
The group came across a huge barrier made out of vines, branches and leaves. It was so dense that it was nearly impossible to see any light through it. Without hesitation the commander cut through the first branch until the opening was big enough to get everyone through. After the last person made it through he didn’t realize that the barrier resealed itself. So the group continued to walk a little longer only to come across a clearing with a huge lake and Mount Olympus was now visible.
The troop cheered, relieved that they found somewhere to set up camp and probably rest for a few days.
“We’ve made it, we are to settle here,” the commander said.
After a couple hours the small clearing by the lake now looked like a bustling village, several tents were made, stables for the horses were built, and the lake offered them fish. By sunset the troops were settled in a fire was made cooking up todays catch. Stories and jokes were being told as laughter and indistinctive chatter filled the area.
“AAAGGHHHH” came a yell from the woods.
Immediately the crowd became quiet to clearly hear the distress call, after a second call it became apparent to the soldiers that it was not a cry for help, rather a woman in rage. A familiar sound everyone knew all to well.
“Face me you whore!” Carmen shouted.
Everyone attention was now to watch Carmen’s next move, this was truly a show and they wanted to see who the unfortunate victim was. For a few moments there was a dead silence angering Carmen more.
“You heard me!” she cried. Still no one responded, her eyes lit up from the hazel eyed beauty to literally flames, she clenched her fist pointed it towards a nearby tent and as she opened them a ball of fire blasted out of her hand and into the tent causing it to catch on fire.
“Carmen!
Enough!” the commander shouted.
“What is the meaning of this, someone put that fire out?” The commander demanded, trying to regain control.
“Your insubordination! What is your purpose?” The commander asked Carmen.
“My quarrel is not with you.” Carmen replied.
Feeling disrespected the commander responded, “You would not have that satisfaction.”
Angering Carmen more, “Do you know who I am, who my mother is? She’s given the gods a run for their money.” Carmen replied.
“I am the Gods reigning champion, I out beat all my brothers and even my father, do you know who I am?” The commander asked.
“It’s me she wants.” Aturmica said emerging from the woods and into the camps.
Carmen has left a sour taste on most of the soldier’s mouths, but they never imagined that she would ever go up against the Commander, or even Aturmica. Carmen had no boundaries, and the soldiers saw that today. Turning into her true form Carmen became a dark pink silhouette with glowing blue eyes. Her red hair was now tied up in one long thick ponytail. Without hesitation she threw a ball of smoke at Aturmica and everyone in shocked waited to see what she would be transformed into, maybe a rat, a roach, or something worse. When the smoke dissolved they realized that Aturmica had not changed one …show more content…
bit.
“I wondered if I was immune to magic.” Aturmica laughed.
She grinned at Carmen and pulled out her sword. “My turn, my sword is thirsty and I intend she gets her fill.” The women said.
Carmen became silent; she knew she was no match for her. Carmen refused to look like a fool; rather she made a dramatic exit and disappeared after she dropped a smoke bomb. The Crowd went on to cheer Aturmica, finally someone standing up to the bully they thought. Amidst the celebration she saw the commander slowly signaling for Aturmica to come over to the tent. After sealing the tent, the commander began to remove the helmet. Aturmica was the only person who knew the true identity of the commander. The two go way back, still her biggest accomplishment till that day was the day she defeated her, Minerva.
At the time Aturmica went by a different name. She was Thana, daughter of a progressive farmer. Her parents sent her to live with a family so she could learn “new things”. Although stronger than Minerva she was shocked to realize that she was no match for her during combat. For the first time in her life she felt a challenge and she trained long in hard with Minerva until she was finally able to beat her. The final match ended with Aturmica’s foot on Minerva’s throat.
“Your sneaky, just like an Amazon.” Minerva said.
“What is an Amazon?” Aturmica asked while helping her up.
“An Amazon is a race of warrior women, have you not learned this from Vesta?” Minerva asked.
“Are you an Amazon?” Aturmica asked.
Minerva gave her a grin. “No but I have had the honor to train and battle with them.” She answered.
Aturmica was impressed with Minerva, a gifted leader and an accomplished strategist, and tactician, Minerva boasted about how she has the magical influence to maintain order in an army. Her presence alone brings peace and order, she was more than just an amazing fighter, and she spoke several different languages and taught Aturmica Greek and English.
At the time Aturmica could not imagine where she would be today, alongside Minerva about to go to battle, she has craved for a chance to battle ever since she met Minerva. Minerva whom she had not seen in years approached Aturmica months ago came and asked for help. Since then together they recruited a small army. Sorceress Circe was recruited because of her powers, Adonis had super strength and was a championed warrior, Orion could feel no pain, and Malin was a skilled fighter. And who ever else wanted to join was in.
Taking the helmet off revealed a beautiful green-eyed brunet.
Revealing the rest of her body, a lean frame there was no proof of battle on her, and in the least the scars were non-existent. To convince someone that this women had commanded the strongest warriors, fought along side the legendary Amazons, and successfully won some of history’s most deadly battles, only someone of naivety could believe the stories. Aturmica was in no position to question her doubts as she had multiple gifts of her own. Aturmica had the attributes of a model, tall and very beautiful. She was often undermined because of her lanky body, lengthy slender arms, and no body definition. However in defiance of her being a lanky matron amongst the warriors, She is blessed with super strength. Ultimately being the strongest amongst her
troop.
“This troop is a mess, no one is disciplined.” Minerva said.
Aturmica shifted her attitude although they were best friends she knew when it was time to laugh and when it was time to listen to her commander. And based on the tone she knew this conversation was going to be more serious.
“Minerva, pardon them they are inexperienced with war.” Aturmica responded.
Minerva gave Aturmica a stern look puzzling the women.
“It is not only her who is inexperienced.” Minerva said.
Aturmica felt offended by what Minerva said.
“Experienced, we have trained together for years, way before we even recruited the troop together.” Aturmica replied.
“That is not my point, with Carmen’s bullying, you sleeping with Adonis, causing conflict you are equally guilty.” Minerva added.
Aturmica was pressed for words.
“You are right.” She replied.
“It is not your fault, it is mine.” Minerva responded.
“I have been away from home too long, I’m beginning to lose my influence.” Minerva continued.
“What do you mean?” Aturmica asked.
“My influence, it is a magical force that commands troops to behave, follow orders, fight together.” Minerva answered.
“You are inexperienced with war, being in a troop, your suppose to respect one another.” Minerva said.
“Why am I getting lectured, She’s the one who has been turning the other soldiers into pigs.” Aturmica yelled.
“She will be dealt with so” Minerva added.
“There is a huge threat, one that could destroy civilizations, a threat that has not been seen since darker times, and this is what I have to offer for an army.” Minerva said.
“It is not my skills I doubt, it is my power, my influence, my authority has never been tested.” Minerva added.
Aturmica didn’t like the tone of the conversation, was Minerva giving up? She seemed hopeless. It was also very inappropriate given the circumstances, the troop have been preparing for battle for months, and now days before war Minerva was having doubts.
“Minerva this is not the time for this, we need you more than ever, we don’t even know what we are facing out there.” Aturmica said.
Minerva gave Aturmica a blank stare for a while before she responded, her face showed no emotion, Aturmica thought.
“Your right sister, let me sleep on it.” Minerva said in a shaky voice.
Aturmica could not sleep that night something about what Minerva had told her last night did not sit well with Aturmica. Aturmica wanted to give herself so many reasons on why Minerva would not abandoned them, she wanted to believe that Minerva would have the strength to go through with it, despite her losing her “influence” which Aturmica did not understand. She should have encouraged her more; she could have said something different, as Aturmica feared most came to reality. The next morning Minerva had was gone. No trace of her was visible, even the guards did not see her leave.
Minerva was gone and Aturmica was left with a group that she help recruit.
