Creative Writing: The First Murder
Neil and Sophie were sitting, watching BBC news. Neil wished he could get closer to Sophie. While Neil was looking at Sophie, the story changed: “Now, continuing the murder discussion.” Neil looked away from Sophie to listen to the news.
“The first murder was in Phoenix, where a man named Yoshi Yakuzba was killed by multiple stab wounds to his gut and chest. The next murder was in LA, where a woman named Katie Kuzbano was brutally murdered. All of her limbs, neck, and multiple ribs were broken. Though it seems that was the cause of death, it wasn't. The cause of death was suffocation with an unknown object. The third murder took place right outside of our own New York City, in Albany. The victim's name was Carlo Johnson. He was hung in a park, found with one arm broken. Will New

She looked at him, very worried.
“I'll be fine. I promise.” He started walking out the door.
“Wait.” She followed him out the door. “I'm coming with you.”
“No,” Neil said, slightly worried.
“Why not? You're going to risk your life, so why can't I?”
Neil looked at Sophie. “Fine. Be careful.”

They went to the edge of town and looked in all the alleys and through windows of abandoned buildings. Nothing. Then they went down an alley surrounded by closed buildings. They heard a sound, like clicking. They looked in through the basement windows and saw a typewriter. Then they saw the cat behind it, typing! Then the clicking continued, and a golden glow appeared in the basement. And suddenly, a monster came out of the glow. He had purple eyes, yellow teeth, and green hair. “Go kill the scientist,” the black cat said. The monster walked off, leaving a golden glow in his wake.
Sophie and Neil slowly backed up and ran—ran away from the monster, the cat, and the typewriter in the

Rodger and Petey came stumbling through the door pushing me aside and quickly slamming the door shut. “Help us!” screamed Petey. “With what?” I replied. Petey seemed winded for some reason, he was trying to get every ounce of oxygen that he possibly could. When he finally mustered up enough air to speak, the floor began to shake, the ceiling fan started rocking back and forth, the fire in the fireplace was stopped in its place, and the T.V dove into the ground. Rodger began to sweat and scurried under the dinner table. Still unaware of what was happening I yelled, “What is going on?” The house repeated its former action and shook again, this time the pots and pans crashed into the floorboards. Getting nothing from the other pigs I rushed to the window to see what was happening. As I peered out of the window I saw the villainous wolf.…

Looking around, Uriah did not see anything in particular that caught his attention and did not know why she wanted him to stop; as far as he could tell, there was not anything they needed there. And, his mother had not gotten off the wagon to go do her business or said anything about eating lunch. So, after bringing the horses and wagon to a complete halt, he turned to Charity and asked, “Why did you want me to stop?”…

We reached The Dalles today. This is our last stop to Oregon city and this is going to be the most dangerous part of the whole trip. We have to take the Barlow Road around Mt. Hood. The road is very messy. There are big rocks guarding the road. Sticks and broken wagon pieces are getting stuck in the wagons. On top of that, everyone is getting sick and have no energy to move the wagon and walk up the steep hill and walking through the narrow paths are hard because we can't walk on the side to hold the wagon up. The oxen are getting too tired to walk anywhere and the other families with mules keep stopping and that makes us run behind on schedule. Many people are dying because they have worked too much and haven't gotten enough sleep. When we…

The Getty Villa, located in Pacific Palisades, is by far the museum that resonates with me the most. From the artwork to the building itself, I’m in love. I went with a childhood friend of mine because I had an extra ticket and I coerced him to join me. The tickets were free, but the parking was fifteen dollars; a very fair price in my opinion.…

How could he just treat us all like we were cattle as if it was nothing? The speedometer crept up to 60 miles per hour. Didn’t he care that people everywhere were starving? How could he do this? When he was elected he promised that he would Make America Great Again. 70 miles per hour. I had to get to the rally. We needed change, we could be that change. 80 miles per hour. My thoughts were interrupted as my eyes caught the reflecting glow of red and blue lights paint the night sky behind me. Crap. I pulled over and turned off the car, ready to feed the officer behind me a great line about how my grandmother was on her death bed and wanted me and only me to be at her side. My eyes shifted and glanced to the side mirror, the officer straightened out his already tucked in uniform and smoothed his hands over his hair as he made his way from his cruiser. Great, I thought. I wonder how many reprimands this stiff is gonna write me up for. My record already had 14 points on it for picketing, 6 more and I’d be in real trouble. He knocked on the window…

Temptation happens when the opportunity is presented to do what we know is wrong, whether against God, ourselves, or others. Being tempted is not wrong - it's the decision to do wrong and the corresponding action that follows.…

Then the noise stopped. Jake stood in the middle of a large area of the cave. There were hieroglyphics all over the walls and right in front of him was the girl. But she wasn’t the same as before. As Jake watched, she turned into smoke and changed into a giant beast. The Beast had large horns and sharp teeth. Its skin was red and its face was on fire. Jake ran. He ran as fast as he could until him and the Beast were as far away as possible. Jake ran until he could run no more. He had put much distance between him and the Beast. Jake sat there. He was exhausted and tired and all he wanted to do was be home. He didn’t care about anything else. Jake fell…
