When Jonas woke up, he smelled fresh cookies, burning wood, and pine. He didn’t remember what had happened at first. He was on a pull-out bed next to a toasty fireplace with a warm fleece blanket wrapped around him. The memories of the past few days came back to him. He sat up and looked around; there was an ancient wood chair to one side with a little bowl that had a towel half in it. Behind the chair there was another room separated by an arched wall. Inside that room there was a table with eight chairs comfortably around it and on the table was a little Aladdin lamp and a large plate with cookies. On the other side of the bed there was a small pine tree glowing red, yellow, and blue that had little decorations and presents around it.
“Oh good! Your finally awake, how are you feeling?” The words came from a lady whose hair was long and silver, she was along in her years, and she had beautiful pale eyes, just like Jonas and the Giver. …show more content…
Is he okay?” Jonas said. And as soon as he finished his sentence a little girl, about five or six, came out giggling and holding onto Gabe’s hand, guiding him to the table. “Oh! He’s awake! Gabe, look.” They came over to the bed and Gabe leaped up on the bed and hugged Jonas. Gabe looked exhausted, he had dark rings under his eyes and he looked half starved but, a great deal better than when Jonas last saw him. The pale eyed woman nodded her head and the little girl held out her hand and told Gabe to come with her, and they went back the way they came. “Here, have some soup and we can have a nice talk” said the elderly
