Creative Writing: The Killer Whale

In the beginning, before man was created, animals of the highest status ruled over the many regions of Earth. For the water region it was Killer Whales, for the sky region it was Eagles, and for the land region it was the Wolves. Before man, wolves didn’t stay in separate packs; they were one. Out of this, there was a kind and brave leader who went by the name of Luna. She ruled justly over her people, but being a just and powerful leader has its own costs. One day while out on a hunt, Luna and a few of her pack members stumble across a horrific sight. One of her children, a pup, is hanging halfway out of the Ruler of the Killer Whale’s mouth. Enraged by the sight, Luna snaps and howls with enough force to shake the lands. Dropping the half
“I will die before they touch my precious lands,” Luna stated. Walking toward the battlefront, she gazes around. “When I shall perish, remember, the heart of the pack is what makes us stronger. Without love, without the bond that makes us not only a pack, but also a family, we are no better than these heartless creatures.” Her voice rang all too clearly through each and every wolf’s ear that day. Slowly, the sound of water sloshing snapped everyone out of their daze. War had come. A massive wave was hurdling toward the wolves at the speed of light. “I will always be with you my children.” At that, Luna turns around and releases an ear shattering howl that shakes the Earth and is consumed by the waves. Fear crept up all of the wolf’s spines from the sight of their leader dying. Then, all of a sudden, a burst of light fills the world and then silence. Luna had sacrificed herself for her people. At once, the sky became dark and the killer whales couldn’t see anything. They retreated in fear of the dark abyss and all of the wolves bowed down to the new figure in the sky they knew to be their leader.
