Creative Writing: The Kitten
There once was a kitten sitting in the shade of a big tree. She sat there every day waiting for her mother to come home while she guarded a beautiful stone her mother had given her. Her mother told her it was a very precious stone and that she must guard it lest someone try to steal it. One day while she sat there, a crow came by. “What are you doing in the shade kitten?” asked the crow. “I am watching over a stone my mother so that nobody steals it,” replied the kitten. She pulled back her paw so that the crow could see the stone. “What a beautiful gem,” exclaimed the crow eying up the stone. “May I hold it so I can see it better?” “No thank you. The next day the crow came back to the kitten sitting in the shade. “Hello kitten,” greeted the crow. “How are you today?” “I’m doing well, and you?” replied the kitten. “I’m doing well. I was wondering if you wanted to come play in the sun.” “No, I think I will stay here with my stone.” “Oh but kitten, your fur s so beautiful and I would love to see it in the sunlight.” The kitten thought about it and decided to show off just a little. There wasn’t anyone around anyways that would take her stone. Therefore, she got up and walked into the sunlight, letting it shine on her beautiful fur. However, when she turned back she saw the crow sitting in the tree with her stone. “Very beautiful kitten, but so is this stone. That is why I will add it to my collection.” Said the crow.
With that, the crow flew off with the kitten’s stone. When her mother returned the kitten cried and told her mother what happened. “Well now it is gone my dear,” said her mother. “And you will never be able to get it back. You must remember to never give in to

This is my cat ‘‘Buttercup’’. You might wonder: Why that name? Well, when I founded him, it was unavoidable to match his muddy yellow coat with the bright flower. He had a mashed-in nose, half of one ear missing and eyes the color of rotting squash. According to my older sister, Katniss, Buttercup was the world’s ugliest cat but it did not matter, because I knew that in the bottom of her heart she was starting to love him. Besides, he was a great help at home, for he was a born mouser. So, we did not have vermin problems anymore. Furthermore, Buttercup was very special for me; he made me feel safe when I had nightmares during the…
