Creative Writing: The Witch Trails
Something flew by her. This time, she definitely knew it was a bird, a crow or raven of sort but bigger. Glancing around, Annabeth didn’t see anything but knew that something was there. Another black bird like creature flashed by her face. It left a long scratch down her face. Long but thankfully not very deep or bad. It reminded her of the time she had gotten a paper cut at school, but a lot longer. She looked down at her braclet. A shield, a flashlight, a knife. A shield would might work. Her hand fingered over the red ruby. As the black creature flashed by her face again, she pressed down on it. The eight petal like blades spun out and formed a shield. She heard an unnatural cry and a thunk as the creature hit the shield and fell to the ground. Annabeth slowly and carefully pressed the ruby again. Dismantling the shield back into the silver snake wrapping around her wrist. When she looked down, she saw a bat. Wait a bat? She thought. She looked up to see a shower of leaves fall on her with a whack in the head following. She winced. He was definitely not holding back. Annabeth sighed and looked for a way up. The tree's branches were higher than she could reach. Looking around, she saw a lower hanging branch from a tree that had been split by something. “Are you going to come or not?” His voice rang from above her head. A long wooden staff struck her in cheek. Annabeth looked up annoyingly and ran over to the split tree. She climbed up the tilted side of the trunk. She grabbed the branch above her and swung her feet on to the branch, hauling herself up. Annabeth looked around and continued to climb upward. Jace was standing on a branch above her of a nearby tree. “Here.” Jace tossed her a long stick. She caught it with her right hand, swaying at the impact. She turned it over in her palm, it was a bit like a stalf that her brother had used to fight

Puddles rippled as the rain dropped down. Lights were flickering on and off and traffic was slower than it was supposed to be. Cars were honking and people yelling. Boom! A lightning bolt went, scattering the birds sitting on top of the power line. They flew around in circles, but they didn’t just fly in circles anywhere they flew right on top of a wide long alleyway. The alleyway was lit up by the uncovered moon, drip drop, was all you could hear as it hits the ground, but if someone were to listen carefully you could hear the little feet of rats skimpering and scampering around.…
