In 1915 a controversial poem titled “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” was released by T.S. Eliot. It is a first person stream of consciousness narrative based on a man at a social gathering who is having some social anxiety. This character is an examination of the tortured psyche of the prototypical modern man; an overeducated, eloquent, neurotic, and emotionally stilted figure.
