Creon realizes his flaw. He realized his mistake in passing an unjust proclamation
and accepts responsibility for everything that happened. Creon said,”Come with me to the tomb,I buried her;I will set her free. Oh quickly! My mind misgives.”(Page 1101,Lines 104-107) He realizes that his decision was wrong and he must free Antigone before the gods unleash their wrath. Once he realizes his mistake he has a better understanding of both himself and the world. The experience of suffering and realizing his mistake led him onto a new and enlarged awareness of both himself and his existence.
Creon learns from his mistake. He recognizes that both his wife and son died due to his stubbornness. Creon said,”Lead me away. I have been rash and foolish. I have killed my son and wife.”(Page 1106,Lines 134-135) Creon has blamed himself for everybody's deaths. He had his anagnorisis and realizes that his hubris has brought him to his downfall. He understands the true meaning of “pathetic” in how he “learned” from his own flaw. Creon is a tragic hero because he learns from his mistake, realizes flaw, and suffers a horrible fate.
