Baseball has always been Americas sport since the 18th century. Baseball is similar to cricket because they are both bat and ball sports. Between baseball and cricket baseball is better than cricket when it comes to fields, equipment and rules.…
Today I had a session with Melinda Sordino, a high school freshman dealing with depression. She talked about the difficulties she was having, including losing her best friend, Rachel Bruin, and recently losing her friend, Heather. Rachel stopped being friends with her after Melinda had called the police at an end of the summer party, but not for the reasons many would expect. She expressed her feelings sadness towards Rachel and how she felt like she couldn’t tell anyone about what really happened at the party.…
Instead of throwing the ball straight to the Catcher, the bowler skips the ball to the catcher and the batter attempts to hit the ball. Cricket has over 30 places a defender could place themselves, but, only 11 defenders are allowed on the field at one time (Cricket Rules). There are only two bases on the field, including home plate. A cricket field is usually oval in shape and 450 plus feet in every direction of the batter including behind the player (Cricket Rules). Cricket batters use bats with a small oval handle with a wide flat barrel to make it easier to hit the ball. Defenders do not use gloves because the players need to be quick and a baseball style glove would slow the player down and make it difficult to field the ball Cricket Rules).…

Cricket is a little bit different seeing as you have two batters at the same time. There are two sets of wickets if the batter hits the ball he then runs to the other set of wickets to score a point he can do this multiple times if he hits it far enough. If the ball hits the “boundary” the player gets four points, and if he hits it over the “boundary” he gets six points. In order to switch sides the opposing team must get ten of the batters out. Ways to get a batter out is to knock over the set of wickets behind him, catch the ball he hits, he can also be “stumped” witch is when the batter steps too far forward and misses the ball and the keeper catches it and the knocks over the wicket, or a LBW witch is a leg before wicket. The LBW is where the ball hits the batters leg pads and the umpire figures it would have hit the wicket if it didn’t hit the pads.…
Baseball is a game of skill that requires two teams consisting of nine players; a field, and equipment, such as gloves, bats and baseballs. To start, you will need nine willing players per team to participate. One team plays defence in the field , while the other plays offense at bat. The pitcher throws the baseball to the catcher with a offensive hitter in the batter's box trying to hit the pitched ball. Next, the umpire is the official that calls balls and strikes. A strike is a pitch thrown by the pitcher that crosses the plane of home plate between the hitters knees and letters, which is chest height. If it is within this zone, it’s a strike. If the pitch is not in this zone, it is a ball. If the hitter does not hit the pitch into the playing field before receiving three strikes, he is out.…
Much of a cricket’s life consists of finding food. Where the house and field cricket differ in this aspect is in the fact that the latter is capable of flight, thus being able to move quickly to new food…
Innings are played when one team tries to score a run and the other teams tries to get them out. The way the other teams get the players out before they get a run by simply tagging them with the ball in their glove or by passing the ball to the base the player is running to before the player gets to that base. The opposing teams needs to make three runs to be able to switch. Let’s say the Red Socks and the Cardinals are playing a game against each other. If the Red socks are up to bat and Cardinals win three outs then they switch off positions. That means that then the Cardinals are now up to bat and the Red Socks are trying to get the Cardinals out. Once both teams have batted once then that means one inning has gone…
4. Every bowler must finish 3 consecutive frames (frames 1, 2, and 3) before the next bowler starts. When all bowlers in the score sheet are finished, the play on the next 3 frames (frames 4, 5, and 6) on the adjoining lane. (e.g. Bowler X played in Lane 3, and Bowler Y played…
Now here are the differences between the two sports. The fields used for cricket are very different from the fields used for baseball. The cricket field has no foul territory and is an oval shape. The baseball diamond is of course a diamond shape and has foul territory. The cricket field has two bases, or wickets, 66 feet apart and two cricket players run back and forth to score runs and six runs can be scored on one hit. The bowler throws the ball from the opposite wicket. In cricket, the teams switch places…
Cricket is played in a large open circular field and consisted of two sides each containing eleven players that would attempt to "put out" the batsman. The batsman tries to prevent a ball thrown by a "bowler" from knocking over "bales" placed on three upright sticks. If the batsman makes contact with the ball, he runs to the opposite side of the "pitch" and continues running back and forth until the ball is retrieved by the opposing…
This project will explore the impact race has on competitive male club cricket. Race is defined as: “A concept which signifies and symbolizes social conflicts and interests by referring to different types of human bodies”.…
Bowling is a very popular sport. It is an indoor sport that is played by rolling a ball down an alley with 10 pins. It is one of the popular sports in the US, where there are many recreational leagues. A game has 10 frames, and a bowler is allowed 2 ball in each frame. Knocking a pin earns the bowler 1 point. If the bowler topples all the pins with the first ball, it is known as a strike, and the player scores 10 points and the total of the next two balls. If a player clears the alley with 2 balls, it is known as a spare, and the bowler scores 10 points and the total of the next roll. A perfect game has 300 points, and requires 12 straight strikes. Bowling is a game that can be played for leisure as well as competition.…
Cricket involves numbers, the comparison of these numbers will give us an idea regarding how well a team is faring. The comparison of these number widely depends on Statistics to give us a rational conclusion. Cricket is therefore a sport which involves a lot of statistics,…
A number of words are thought to be possible sources for the term "cricket". In the earliest known reference to the sport in 1598 (see below), it is called creckett. The name may have been derived from the Middle Dutch krick(-e), meaning a stick; or the Old English cricc or cryce meaning a crutch or staff.[2] Another possible source is the Middle Dutch word krickstoel, meaning a long low stool used for kneeling in church and which resembled the long low wicket with two stumps used in early cricket.…
