Criminal Justice Leadership Analysis
After reading chapter 6, I realized that leaders in a community they need to be sensitive that the wants and needs of the community. I feel like a lot of times leaders in criminal justice are buried in policies and regulations and fail to realize the humanity side to the story. I believe that criminal justice leaders need to look within their communities to realize ethical and moral issues before they can address a problem. Overall the criminal justice system is great at reacting to stuff like crimes and violations and act only on instinct by arresting and convicting people which doesn’t solve the roots problems. What they need to do is step back and look at the bigger picture to try to find the root causes of crime and dealing with them accordingly. A lot of times especially in criminal justice leaders they tend to close of their emotions and not having any feeling because in some way it will compromise their judgement. Leaders in criminal justice tend to close their emotions and strictly enforce the law and blame the others or the people that are charged with a crime and say that it was their fault and they should pay the consequences. This creates a separation between criminal justice and the community and creates an us versus them situation like back in the 80’s. Criminal justice leaders need to interact and develop relationships with the communities and people directly affected by their actions and look and to find ways in dealing with crime and finding roots causes of why those people are involved in crime. By developing understanding and gathering information by the people and communities directly affected by criminal justice they can provide accurate way to solve those
