I have decided to write my ethics paper on how police departments define the work ethics that we will go over in this project. Every day in today’s world we hear about a police officer that has done something wrong while serving for a department for example excessive use of force, thief, and abuse of authority are just a few of unethical traits on the one’s that the public have entrusted with their safety. No matter how much good police work is done it will not get the attention level of that as the bad police work will get. Having a good and positive attitude while on duty says a lot about who you are. When an officer makes discretionary choices based on their own judgments, we expect that their decision making and behavior would be caused by the occupational attitude. Supervisor attitude have a direct effect on an officer’s attitude because they will have the same type if taught a certain way.
An officers’ attitude can greatly affect their career either for good or bad. When an officer is showing negative attitude towards a citizen, it gives the community a bad impression of the officer’s occupational attitude. A police officer will find that members of the public will comply with direction more willingly when they understand the situation. Having a bad attitude towards the public can run the risk of having your authority challenged and bring a bad light to yourself and the department. …show more content…
Police departments use teamwork to take advantage of in-house resources, pair important skills and reach out to other department and agencies to solve and eliminate crimes. Often, teams can be more efficient and more effective than individual officers and detectives working solo or in a vacuum. When police departments join forces against organized and systemic crime, they can better utilize available resources to keep the public safe.
Without teamwork, there would be no unity only individuals worried about themselves. Teamwork makes co-op tasks run smoother and easier for both parties. Without teamwork, there wouldn’t be no police or government agencies because they aren’t ran by individuals but teams. Teamwork is what moves the wheels for a department. With teamwork, you can achieve so much more and without you will achieve so much
