Tell-Tale Heart The killer in the, “Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe is criminally insane. To with, the killer is criminally insane because he kept hearing things. As it states in the story on page 145, “I heard all things in heaven and in the earth. I heard many things in hell.” Another example is page 148, where the killer states, “My head ached, and I fancied a ringing in my ear.” Next, the killer is criminally insane because he killed somebody he loved for no reason. As it states on page 145, “Object, there was none. Passion, there was none,” What it also states on page 145 is, “I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. Had never given me an insult.” Finally, the killer is criminally insane because he got mad over the man's eye.
