Abstract: Depression is a growing number of issues among teens. However, it affects teenage girls the most. This paper will discuss the case of Ariadne. This paper will show how Ariadne will use and turn to others things to escape her problems and how the effort of a crisis assessment form and crisis counselor can help Ariadne reach a more stable lifestyle.
Ariadne is a 17 year old Hispanic female with a history of depression, suicide attempt, and recent substance abuse. She feels unwelcome at school and not useful at home. She has been seen by a mental health counselor last year. She is able to talk to her friends and has one “special” friend but feels her family is too strict and has too many rules (courseroom2.capella.edu, assignment 3, 2013). Javanmivi, Kimiaze, & Hashem (2013) stated depression is one of the most common diseases in these days which have been known as mental flu. In this crisis situation Ariadne passed suicide attempt and substance abuse stands out. The fact that she finds comfort in talking to her friends and not parents is second. The counselor would like to find out what Ariadne have in common with her friends, how long have they been friends, and what happens what leads her to drink. As her counselor, one would need to know what Ariadne plans to gain from this visit. Does she really want to be here? Sometimes depression hopelessness,
