Garcia was able to reflect upon her past experience when I used the critical incident questions to understand how she learns. Just as how Brookfield explained how adults use critical reflection to help them become aware of their thoughts and actions in their personal life experience (Brookfield, 1990). With this interview I was able to see what was Ms. Garcia’s subject matter preferences and learning activities. While I have learned a variety of processes and steps in this critical thinking course, the 3 most significant things that come to mind are commitment, forward thinking, and overcoming obstacles. Critical thinking requires a life time commitment if I expect my thinking to improve. In the 1900s when policing was created they had to face many issues to make sure that they handle lowering crime rates. The police departments would find ways on how to prevent and solve crimes with the use of technology. Only in recent years have many agencies found the use of information technologies significantly helpful. Some examples of these technology uses include fingerprinting databases, computerized crime mapping, and records management systems doing everything from inventorying property and cataloging evidence to calculating solvability factors. We as nurses will learn to have the ability to think in a logically and systematic manner at all times.
