Beside the Public Information Officer (PIO) is an Intelligence Officer at the Incident Command level (Incident Command Simulation Center, 2008). These persons should work hand in hand on information released to the public to prevent or understand potential spillage of sensitive information in to enemy hands. While the information during phases above is important to translate to the public, the details and follow-on actions must be understood and accounted for in planning.
