From my personal experience with my ex-partner who is an Indigenous Australian he struggled with his cultural identity and the modern identity for young Aboriginal boys in western Sydney. He had an expectation to follow his ancestor’s traditions but he was unable to find a way to integrate his culture into a paid occupation.…

I believe that Roald Dahl wants us to think Mrs. Maloney is a victim. I think this because in the story Mrs. Maloney looks to be a nice, kindhearted woman who is devoted to her husband, even though he would ignore her presence when she was speaking to him. "I think it's a shame," she said, "that when someone's been a policeman as long as you have, he still has to walk around all day long." He didn't answer. Although Mr. Maloney ignored his wife and was not interested in what Mrs. Maloney had to say she still continued to speak to him a respectful manner. When Mr. Maloney decided to tell Mary that he was leaving her for another woman she tried to deny his words in her mind. “And he told her. It didn't take long, four or five minutes at most, and she sat still through it all, watching…

Racial discriminatory views of Indigenous Australians are often the product of an individual’s upbringing. How might teachers’ challenge their own beliefs as well as provide opportunities for their students to think critically about this issue? In your answer discuss how recent events have increased the focus on disadvantage in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, and how this has impacted on pedagogical and whole school interventions.…
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are strong rich and diverse. Although in the area of Leongatha, Victoria were I currently work there are not a lot of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures there is still a variety of different cultures and religions. Although extending to broader parts of Victoria, Melbourne and Wonthaggi there are more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The current centre I work ‘Leongatha Children’s Centre’ has a variety of different cultures in relation to families, staff and children. Some of the current cultures that attend the service are: Indigenous Children Various religions and beliefs Different social and economic backgrounds As identified as part of Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal relations history Initial invasion and colonisation by the Europeans to Australia (1788 to 1890).…
When it comes to Australia’s knowledge about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, it is all based on colonialist views. Public institutions, history and education curricula are Eurocentric. There is a struggle of understanding perspectives of the Indigenous community. Primary and Secondary schools hardly educate children about the cultural traditions of Indigenous Australians, only the settlement of the British convicts. There is failure to acknowledge the land citizens stand on.…
The atomic bombs that were dropped on Japan in 1945 were not seen as a logical reaction to the war by everyone. Leo Szilard was a Hungarian physicist that was the first to conceive of the mechanics of the atomic bomb, and how it worked. He was fighting the use of these bombs on Japan, and trying to urge the President to reconsider the idea. Although he lost the argument over whether to use the bombs, his argument was valid based on the devastation that was caused by the atomic bombs in Japan. Given the results of the devastation in Japan, his side of the argument is unmistakably seen.…
This article, “The RU-486 Abortion Pill Should Be Available to Women”, was written by Laura Fraser in 2001 for the Greenhaven Press. The issue involved with this article is whether or not the RU-486 abortion pill should be available to women in the U.S.. The conclusion Fraser came up with was yes, the RU-486 abortion pill should be available to women in the U.S., and for plenty of reasons. For example, if mifepristone becomes available, it will remove political and practical barriers so women can get abortions and physicians will not have to perform complete abortions. Also, 54% of all…

That was another week went by at Sherwood Park Manor. As usual, I started my shift by listening to the morning report and then heading to my assign resident room. I started morning care by providing the care of my assigned resident, including taking her vital signs. After that I directed my resident to sit in the dining for breakfast meal. And once I was done, I went and helped another resident with morning care too, and at last bring him to the dining for breakfast. However, before I head to the dining to help with feeding the resident I checked the room to ensure that everyone was out. While I was checking I found a resident lying in bed and when I asked other personal support worker about her, I was told that she refused to get up for breakfast. I went to her any way to try to convince her to come for breakfast and finally she was able to get up and…
Each individual has to struggle in order to perform better. During this semester, I have felt myself feeling more confident and comfortable as well as much better at writing. I have learned multiple things in my English class. I have learned different writing techniques, different formatting forms. Through class activities and wring different sorts of papers, I was able to learn those skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my skills when it comes to writing still need improvement., Skills, such as proper grammar, still need some adjustment. Even though I have things to improve on this semester, I was still able to improve some areas of my writing skills.…
