The 14 Critical Approaches in the Humanities can be described as someone trying to enter Fort Knox or any other secured place. When a person attempts to enter, they are question on what their business is there, name, where they are from etc. If the answered correctly they may be allowed in for further security procedures. This is can be applied to the critical theories by an artifact being presented to us, we then start to analyze, dissect and pick apart the thoughts that our needed to get the data in order to process a specific theory.
The song "Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls has always been a person favorite of mine. It provides the theory of response-reception criticism. One line of the lyrics says, "You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be" the meaning behind this getting to heaven is the ultimate happiness but for now a certain person on earth now makes him the happiest. This line may also coincide with the approach of mimetic. This line from the song provides the listener with evidence that this is only an imitation of reality. A person's feelings or being in love may feel as if the best thing in the world but a living person on earth has not experienced heaven and would not know that this feeling that they get from a person is next to being in heaven.

With the instant connectedness of the world today our "family traditions" have been affected and some eliminated. I am only 24 years old and I remember a time of being outside in the summer from sun up to sun down playing with my friends. Internet was available but it was not of our concern. Nowadays, you look around and there are seven year olds with cell phones. This has lead to most generations having their head in the sand, or in this case in their cell phones.
