Capillarity or Capillary action, phenomenon in which the surface of a liquid is observed to be elevated or depressed where it comes into contact with a solid.

Ability of a liquid to flow in narrow spaces without the assistance of, and in opposition to, external forces like gravity

Capillarity Types:-

Capillarity Rise:- The upward movement of a liquid against the force of gravity inside narrow spaces and thin tubes is called capillary rise . This property of liquid is called capillarity. A common apparatus used to demonstrate capillarity is the capillary tube.
