1.Introduction
Prominent figures such as Richard Branson, JK Rowling, Simon Cowell, and
Philip Green are some of the highly recognized British entrepreneurs around the world. Five thousand miles away, Burmese entrepreneurs like Ye Myat Min, the founder of Nex, a tech startup for mobile development; Htet Myat Oo with
Rangoon Teahouse in the restaurant business; Poht Poht Kyi for Myanmar
Imperial college in education sector; and Jim and Debbie Taylor with Proximity
Designs, a social enterprise are setting up successful ventures in Myanmar.
Entrepreneurship is one of the crucial elements in the economy and in business. In addition, relating the concept in different cultural contexts gives powerful insight and new connections. The essay will conduct a cross-cultural examination of entrepreneurship in Myanmar and UK through Isenberg’s Babson
Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Project
and theoretical frameworks of Hall and
Hofstede.
