Castro, can also be proclaimed as the man who put an end to racism within the developing nation. He also implemented a national literacy campaign.…
Miami has very long and unique history making itself different from other cities. What makes Miami different from other cities is the profound affect the Cuban and Haitians immigrants had in that current time and forward. How major events like the Cold War (1947-1991) which was over the struggle of capitalism vs. communism affected the growth of Cubans and held back the Haitians in Miami. Events like these cause the Cuban people to advance while on contrast barely help the Haitians. Cubans have advance more politically than Haitians because of the “Golden Exiles” arrival, government funding, and dominating the republic party.…

Looking back at the history of Cuba, there was a time when the country was quite prosperous. This was before Fidel Castro came into power. During the Batista government regime, Cuba had a strong economy and exported many goods. However, Castro started a rebellion and fought against the Batista and soon took over. Now, when people hear about Fidel Castro, they think about the negative aspects of his government regime: oppression, extreme socialist views, lack of food and other necessities for living, and the removal of people who went against his views. This paper aims to show that regardless of the negative policies Castro had in place, he played an important role in the arts for Cuba. His financial support of Alicia Alonso and her company, helped to foster an environment for people to learn about and build an appreciation for ballet and its contributions.…

This picture was taken on the outskirts of Panama City en route to Casco Antiguo. The type of houses depicted in the picture has a lot to do with the word outskirt; it exemplifies the two dynamics that exist within Panama. In the picture, you can see small shack like houses clustered together, a housing plan that usually denotes homes of lower income residents, and in the background, there are the notorious skyscrapers of the affluent Panama City. This conflicting setup is the truth for all of Panama. All of the people who occupy the upper class and are well off dominate the center of Panama, whereas all those who occupy the lower class are marginalized to the outskirts and borders of Panama.…
Another colonial Latin American country that had racial profiles was Cuba. The Cuban Revolution (1953-59,) resulted in the overthrow of the Cuban dictator, Fulgencio Batista, and created a new communist government under Fidel Castro. The revolution replaced Batista’s regime which favored the capitalist interest, with Castro's revolutionary government that focused on nationalizing industry and developing basic services (education, health). However, after the victory of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro noticed the racism in Cuba, specifically in the job market and this led him to issue anti-discrimination laws. The history of racism in Cuba goes back to when the Spanish settlers arrived with their African slaves. However, the racism that Castro…
Re: Strategic Analysis of the Cuban Cigar Industry With the potential for significant political reform and absolution of the U.S trade embargo, it is critical to determine the probability and effects of these changes on the Cuban cigar industry. After reviewing these scenarios and two possible entrance strategies; creation of a joint venture and investment in an existing firm; it was determined that entering the Cuban cigar industry is not favorable at this time. After analyzing industry forces it is clear that entrance into Cuba is unlikely (see Appendix A). The industry exhibits high barriers to entry due to government restrictions. Foreign land ownership is not permitted, which makes entrance into the industry as a supplier impossible. Moreover, even if ownership laws are relaxed, government control over production is driving low supplier power, making it an unenviable position within the value chain. The other sections of the value chain, export distribution…
