• Ensuring that the everyone the setting are aware of their own culture and have a clear view about other cultures

• Ensuring that everyone has a positive attitude towards other cultures and belief.

• Ensuring that everyone in the settings has a good knowledge about the different cultural practices across the world.

• Ensuring everyone are skilled in communicating and interacting with people from various cultures

CULTURALLY COMPETENT EDUCATORS

One who is able to communicate effectively and one who can interact effectively without any cultural barrier

“Children have the right to lean and use the language and customs of their families whether or not these are shared by the majority of the people in the country where they live as long as this does not harm others”

LEGISLATION AND LAWS

Legislations and Laws are used to regulate ceretain actions and authorize certain activities in the society. The breach of which is punishable.

RACIAL DISCRIMINATION ACT 1975

It is unlawful for a person to do any act involving a distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on colour, race, decent or ethnic origin.

HUMAN RIGHTS AND EQUAL OPPURTUNITY ACT 1986

Eliminate discrimination against people on the grounds of sex, marital status, religion, age, race etc. Prevent children from racism and discrimination

EDUCATE CHILDREN
• To respect other cultures

• Appreciate other cultures

• Positively interact with everyone

• Reject bias

• Stand up for themselves

Respecting and Accepting a culture starts with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are considered to be the ancient cultural people in the world.
POLICY:
Cultural competency is especially important in relation to
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Educators and care service can help recognise the importance of their culture tradition and language as a crucial to their identity and developing a sense of self-worth.
PROCEDEURES:

• Ensure that we recognise the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as part of the cultural heritage of all Australians
• Encourage children to respect and acknowledge Aboriginal
