Standardized Testing Is Unfair
People learn differently, so why should they be tested the same way? Education is the most important part of growing up and classrooms are always trying to come up with different ways of teaching subjects. But why should we throw away what we know when it comes to testing? We know everyone learns in a different way and schools cater to those who need more time or more hands on work, but when it comes to the part of our schooling that counts the most in terms of grading we force everyone into the same boat in hopes that the majority of them will
pass.

In their book, Turning Learning Right Side Up: Putting Education Back on Track, authors Russell L. Ackoff and Daniel Greenberg point out that today's education system is seriously flawed -- it focuses on teaching rather than learning. "Why should children -- or adults -- be asked to do something computers and related equipment can do much better than they can?" the authors ask in the following excerpt from the book. "Why doesn't education focus on what humans can do better than the machines and instruments they create?"
"Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth learning can be taught." -- Oscar Wilde
The objective of education is learning, not teaching.
. Albert Einstein, best known for his "Theory of Relativity," said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand." Though a scientist, he understood the importance of imagination.
