25 September 2014 Culture and Experience Enrichment by Visiting Europe If students have never experienced with another culture, their knowledge become bounded. They would only see and interpret lives through their very own ways. European cares about saving energy than Americans because they value energy as precious. In America, people have a big refrigerator in their homes. However, each home has a smaller cooler because of high energy cost. Also, Americans go to the supermarket and buy a whole week load of food while Europeans go almost every day. Europeans have to plan their meals based on what they see fresh and available every day. Professor Easly says, “Students have to break out of their barriers in experiencing a different culture” (Personal Interview). Studying abroad provides a personal first-hand close-up experience. It gives a great pursuing educational opportunity in different countries. Baylor’s Europeans Business Seminar, one of the most famous studies abroad programs, provide students with six hours of credit. Also, they get to travel and learn the culture of each country in person as students will not be in classrooms at all in Europe. For example, eating breakfast becomes a great deal in Europe because it differs from an American hotel breakfast. Also, freshmen students can go to this seminar that takes place in Summer I of 2015. After that, students could attend the second half of summer classes. EBS offers excellent opportunities to students on how business practiced in Europe, such as marketing, finance, and operations. The tour focuses in learning the differences between companies operate in Europe and US while seeing first-hand on how companies influenced their culture of each country. It attracts students who want to do work in Europe with a chance to equip themselves with necessary skills. It provides them with a sound foundation of understanding of how people do their businesses in Europe. The course itself
