4.) Contemporary youth gangs in the United States have changed in comparison to the past gangs in many different ways. Some reason to why things have changes is because in the past gangs were formed to survive, living on the streets. Through survival crimes such as theft, we see statistical references on the past gangs and the gangs today. In a way it seems like the kids join gangs today, not only for protection, but because it’s a fad.
5.) The motives for a gang membership differ from individual to individual. Many trends that are seen when joining gangs is because of the fear of being alone, friendship network, and peer group, and play
