At the end of each year the return that Costco realizes on equity capital can either be reinvested back into the business or paid out to investors as dividends and common stock repurchases. If no dividends or share repurchases were made and earnings were reinvested back into the business at the same incremental rate of return, the company's return on equity would hold constant over time.…

Lewis auditions the singers, only to find that none of them can sing. Lewis decides that the opera will be done in English. During a lunch break, Lewis listens to a radio interview that Nick gives about the moratorium. “They’ll want the war to end, they’ll want changes in our society, they’ll want to overthrow the establishment.” Doug continues to ask Lewis personal questions and then reveals the story of burning his mother’s cats. Cherry flirts with Lewis and feeds him a sandwich. Doug suddenly appears and yells there’s a “fire in the dunnies.” Cherry “throttles him”.…

Children perform the Posada parades from December 16th to Christmas Eve. They act the story of Mary and Joseph looking for a room at an Inn, and 9 houses are visited, which are decorated with paper lanterns, evergreens, and moss. Mary and Joseph are not turned away again when the procession reaches the last house, and they are invited inside. Everyone in the parade enters, and they share prayers with the host. Then they celebrate with a party, which always includes a piñata.…

Throughout the play ‘Cosi’, the audience witness the lives of mentally ill people unfold before them. The world is full of many explorers, much of many who honestly are unqualified and are worthless, as explorers. In contrast, once they do a single thing that is miraculous and they change the entire perspective of who they are and what they are really capable of. Out of any explorer out there my explorer is beyond the best explorer, not only for what he has done, but for his very own name. My explorers name is Alvar Nunez Cabeza De Vaca, which in contrast from every other explorer has the coolest and weirdest name out there. For many of you who don’t necessarily know what Cabeza de Vaca means, it means Cow head. Although his name was weird and funny catching, he also was the first to do much of many things, like being the first European to describe America from Florida through Arizona. His writing is the oldest out of any other about history we have of the Native Americans, and he set out the stage for the conquest of this continent.…

In the opening scenes of the play, audiences encounter a naive and inexperienced Lewis who is easily influenced by the views of his university friends. We first meet Lewis and friends in a ‘pitch black’ theatre in which the darkness symbolises their narrow minded outlooks. This foreshadows that Lewis compliantly conforms to the rigid but shallow expectations and philosophies of others. Indeed, he mouths various left wing student political slogans in these early scenes. His preconceived trendy left ideas about doing a Brecht play about how ‘a man sacrifices himself for the good of his mates’ are quickly dismissed by Roy, who bullies Lewis into directing Cosi Fan Tutte and ignores his couations about the appropriateness of the light oopera in the time of theVietnam War and a world where love is no longer ‘important’. In the initial rehearsals, Lewis’ uncertainty and inexperience cause tension ‘.........they are waiting for some leadership from Lewis who................doesn’t know where to begin.’ Later the play proves to be a pivotal turning point for Lewis as Roy continues to heckle him to show direction and leadership. In these opening scenes, we witness Lewis’ discomfort and awkwardness with the patients. He is confronted by Doug’s blunt personal questions and Cherry’s amorous advances; he doesn’t know how to deal with Roy’s dominance. His understanding of others and interpersonal abilities are limited. At this point in the play, Lewis appears one dimensional and the situation is set for his transformation into a more rounded individual.…

    Sensa

For this discussion, I thought I would look at any studies I could find regarding the diet “supplement” called Sensa. I’ve heard advertisements about it, but I didn’t know what it was. At first I thought it was a drug, which is why I selected it for this discussion posting. After further reading, I found it would be classified more as a supplement or food item; however, what I learned was so interesting I continued with the subject for this posting. I learned that it is a “flavor enhancer” that one sprinkles on one’s food. The creator of the supplement, Alan Hirsch, MD, is a psychiatrist who was studying the effect of the senses on diet. The idea is that the sprinkles enhance the flavor and smell of your food, so that you feel satisfied and don’t overeat. After researching it, I decided to discuss the one study I could find related to this supplement. While it shows the hypothesis test and other descriptive statistics, I think the study is flawed; all the better to discuss it on this forum.…

Over the past decade or so the idea and image of sex has become so common place that to see half naked men and women across all types of media from billboards and ads to commercials is no longer a taboo, rather it is the key to marketing. This isn’t always tasteful advertising either most of the time there is very little left to the imagination and you have to stop and wonder what is the point? Where do we draw the line between what is erotic enough to attract attention and where we begin to cross into more adult themed messages? These images however, are meant to create an impression to condition us into thinking that what we see in these ads is what the ideal man or women should look like. In the daily beast article I found online we examine the difference between some of the people who are these flawless beauties yet multiple details of their “flawless” bodies are touched up and photo shopped in very subtle ways. What type of message is the media sending if the images that are supposed to represent perfection aren’t perfect enough?…
