Cyber Bullying What is cyber bullying? It is the use of Internet, cell phones, or other electronic communication devices to spread harmful and embarrassing information about another person. Who does this affect? Why do people do it? What are the cause and effects of cyber bullying? Cyber bullying may not seem like nothing since there is no physical contact but in reality it can hurt even more than the actual thing. Sadly, no one realizes the pain these victims have to suffer over these situations. Bullying is a method of intimidation that has many different types. One of the types of bullying is cyber bullying. Not everybody knows what this is because it is a new form of bullying. The cyber bully usually sends threats, sexual remarks, using offensive language, humiliating videos/photos, rumors/lies, about the victim. All of this is more than likely to be targeted at minors. Although, not only should cyber bullying be stopped but all types of bullying should be stopped as well. President Obama is against bullying like a lot of other people are too. Obama said, “Obviously our heart breaks when we read about what happens to people who have been a victim of cyber bullying. When they did nothing to deserve it. Web. 25 Feb. 2013. 2012 survey of student’s ages 11-18 administrated by the Cyber Bullying Research Center, 20% said that they had been Cyber bullied. 20% of students said they engaged in cyber bullying at least once. 10% surveyed that they both had been the victim/bully. A cyber bully can be anyone. Michael J. Fox said, “One’s dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked, but it can never be taken away unless it is surrendered.” What Michael is saying is that a victim of cyber bullying may be being bullied about something but he or she
