Despite campaigning, bullying itself won’t be gone. Technology has become a prominent form of bullying. With all the social networking websites the spread of cyber bullying is increasing. The problem isn’t so much the bullying itself. The problem is that the victims are having a hard time escaping it. As if physical…
Altough bullying is terrible, there are some things we can do about it. In “The Dark Side of Using Technology” by Del Siegle, Siegle explains how we can prevent cyber bullying. Siegle states, “The following tips should be shared with young people to prepare them if they encounter a bullying situation: The best response to a cyberbully is not to respond. It removes the bully’s power. Those who are bullied sometimes become bullies.…
Cyber bullying according to Wikipedia is defined as the use of Information Technology (Computers, cell phones, etc.), to harm or harass other people in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner. Cyber bullying has been a very sensitive topic in recent years due to the pain and embarrassment it causes for the individuals on the receiving end. I believe that in order to delete this behavior there has to be accountability to the person(s) doing it, tougher laws for someone who commits this act, and prevention.…
Cyberbullying has had such a negative effect on people of all ages. It has lead to many fatal events, especially suicide. So many young people end their lives, because they have been bullied over the internet. According to CyberBullyHotline.com, "20% of kids cyberbullied think about suicide, and 1 in 10 attempt it" and "4500 kids commit suicide each year." Worst of all, the bully doesn't admit to his crime, and pretends like it never happened.…
Also, there should be classes in school about that subject. According to the website called Stop Cyberbullying, "Parents, school staff, and other adults in the community can help kids prevent bullying by talking about it, building a safe school environment, and creating a community-wide bullying prevention strategy" (Prevent, 2012). Once the prevention of cyberbullying starts to happen and/or kids that are bullying clearly understand that it is wrong to damage other people, the society would have accomplish an amazing…
Cyber bullying has been a topic for Psychologists, Parents, and policy reform since the commercialization of the Internet. Pre-internet bullying involved socially marginalized children and teenagers picking on their friends and other marginalized children in the school yard. Traditional discipline included detentions, phone calls to their parents, and some sort of reconciliation between the children involved. Today however, the climate for bullies has dramatically changed and the risk-reward balance has been significantly tilted in favour of the bullies. Today, bullies can simply connect to the Internet and create aliases (real or anonymous) through free e-mail services, instant messaging services, and social networking services. They then use these means to effectively bully someone without the victim ever knowing who they may actually be.…
Bullying is a method of intimidation that has many different types. One of the types of bullying is cyber bullying. Not everybody knows what this is because it is a new form of bullying. The cyber bully usually sends threats, sexual remarks, using offensive language, humiliating videos/photos, rumors/lies, about the victim. All of this is more than likely to be targeted at minors. Although, not only should cyber bullying be stopped but all types of bullying should be stopped as well. President Obama is against bullying like a lot of other people are too. Obama said, “Obviously our heart breaks when we read about what happens to people who have been a victim of cyber bullying. When they did nothing to deserve it. It is getting out of hand!” “Cyber bullying.” Opposing viewpoints online collection. Detroit: Gale, 2012. Opposing viewpoints in Context. Web. 25 Feb. 2013.…
Until businesses and schools take cyber bullying as serious as bullying someone in person the issues would not be resolved. Many cyber bullies think that bullying others online is funny. Cyber bullies may not realize the consequences for themselves of cyberbullying. The things teens post online now may reflect badly on them later when they apply for college or a job. Cyber bullying causes different reactions to many different people from depression to legal matters to even suicide. I often think that cyber bullying is worse than physically bullying someone because with cyber bullying nobody know it is happing other than the bully/bullies and one getting bullied but, getting physically bullied someone who could potentially stop it could see it happening. So again if schools and businesses would take all bullying serious that maybe just maybe we would see a decrease in the amount that it…
Just about half of U.S. students are impacted by traditional bullying each school day (Ross). Cyberbullying is technology powered and as technology expands it is getting harder and harder to see and prevent bullying from happening. Bullying over the Internet makes it easy for the bully to get away with their destructive behavior without any consequences. The article, “What is Cyberbullying: Bullying Comes Home” states, “Bullying is not new but thanks to the Internet teens are now being bullied at home. Online harassment is a serious problem” (Hardcaslte). Although the Internet has opened many doors to new opportunities, it has unfortunately…

Cyber bullying is a rapidly growing trend that can be more detrimental than "traditional" forms of bullying in many ways. A key difference between cyber bullying and traditional bullying is the ability to bully without a face-to-face altercation. The bully is also invisible and not knowing who is responsible can add to a victim's insecurity. It is no longer about the one big, mean bully picking on the smaller kid in the schoolyard. Any person with an Internet connection of any kind can bully almost anyone else. Cyber bullying has the same insidious consequences as any kind of bullying, causing isolation and fear in its victims.…
Today five out of ten children are bullied (Peagream). This number is most likely to increase not decrease. Bullying has been engrained in America society since the country’s founding. Bullying has remained a relevant issue through the years; with no bully prevention this will bring greater problems to this country” (Donegan). The biggest struggle for cyberbullying prevention in the future is matching the fast pace of technological innovation with effective preventable techniques (Donegan). With that being said there should be someone or something to put a halt to bullying or bullying will surely…

First is beginning an educational campaign with children and teens, and informing others what exactly is cyber bullying and the steps to prevent it from happening to them. Teaching youth how not to unintentionally become part of cyber bullying will help slow down cyber bullies. Children need to be taught that being silent while another is being hurt is not alright, and if they stand up with the victims, cyber bullies can be stopped. Another way is keep personal information private. Children and teens should not share passwords with friends or strangers to keep themselves safe. Sharing this personal information can give cyber bullies the opportunity to hack into personal emails and social sites, and post damaging things online. And once things are posted on the Internet, it may be impossible to delete it permanently. Adolescents should also know that if they are targeted by a cyber bully to not respond and instead block the cyber bully and inform a parent or adult that can help them. Checking to see who they are sending messages and emails to is another way of preventing cyber bullying. Making sure that they are sending it to the right person and place will help stop cyber bullies from receiving private messages. Also, teens should know that it is not alright to forward and send other people’s emails and personal information without their permission. Teenagers also should not send emails or post…
