“Cyber Bullying Amongst Teens- A New Found Social Epidemic” In 2014, the Center for Disease Control and the Department of Education released their definition of bullying for research and surveillance. The core elements of the definition include: unwanted aggressive behavior; observed or perceived power imbalance; and repetition of behaviors or high likelihood of repetition. Cyber bullying has had a major impact on our youth. It has been link to the increasing number is suicide among youth today. It is one of the factors that contributes to the incidents being high. This form behavior is in connection with youth displaying depressive symptoms, becoming socially withdrawn, having an academic decline, and social adjustment issues. These alarming factors broadens our scope even further of how problematic this matter has become. Part of the problem is that this type of behavior has been accepted by society as a social norm. I have heard people say that bullying is not an issues and kids are going to be subjected to some form of this behavior at one time or another. Some youth are likely to experience some form of bullying however the behavior should not be viewed as a part of growing up or accepted as a social norm. If this type of mind frame continues to spread throughout our society, then are youth will continue to be placed at risk. The predators will continue to think that this behavior is acceptable and the vicious cycle
