Cycle Of Inquiry Classroom Observation
The components that were successfully covered with the Cycle of Inquiry includes the planning form and the documentation. I have misplaced my observations from practicum one, although I do have an observation included in my planning form. My planning form includes my hypotheses. The hypotheses are more about what I'm thinking, not what the children are thinking. In my planning form, I have a step-by-step procedure of how the experience will take place. I have who's involved, what’s next and the evaluation of the experience. In my planning form, I do not have a good run down of how the experience had gone, it’s very short with basic information. I have a documented piece with the end result of the experience. The components that were missed includes the planned research questions as I did not reflect on the hypotheses. I didn’t plan out a web based on the possible ways to extend the children’s knowledge and their thinking.
The strength in my planning is my planning form. I believe it is a strength of mine because I put a lot of details into my planning form. The headings that I have in my planning form includes observations,

It says that one of the children had mixed glue and paint into a cup and had made a string like mixture. I remember the child was laughing at her creation that she had made. I have the teacher thinking’s, which includes questions like “What is N. thinking while she is mixing the paint and glue?” and “Would the other children be interested with mixing the glue as well as N is?” I have the evaluation which states, “The activity went well there was a lot of children who participated there were around 9-10 children. It was really messy which I think kept the children engaged. I wish I could have looked into it more to add things that will interact with glue. They enjoyed mixing to make different

Another strength value is using my sense of sensibility when addressing problems in the community; this is according to my ethical lens results. I am in the middle on these results, I believe that you must use sensibility but also need to be rational. If I was to favor one over the other it would have to be rationality. One strength attribute that I appreciate a whole lot is the tradition strength. I think this strength can go a long way of helping myself and others out, being able to learn from others that have been in my position and analyzing their decisions benefits me. Some may overlook this attribute; I on the other hand value this trait and have been taught this attribute from an early age and then again in the…

The strength the surprised me the most was Harmony. StrengthsQuest says, "In your view there is little to be gained from conflict and friction, so you seek to hold them to a minimum" (StengthsQuest, 2000). After reading a more in depth definition of Harmony, I know how I can utilize this strength. In my career, there are many peers and employees who thrive on conflict. By using this strength, I can sit down with both individuals who have a conflict and guide them towards resolution by breaking down what goal we need to work towards and what it takes for us to get…

For my classroom observation, I chose to observe two classrooms with teachers I do not work with at my current job Bobbie Smith Elementary in Long Beach, CA. My area of interest is elementary, I chose to observe a Kindergarten and Second grade classroom. Although I prefer to teach a Kindergarten class and not go over the Second grade, I know that teachers never get a pick of what grades you teach sometimes. So I am glad that I am able to gain experience in each grade level.…

Information processing has two areas: innate ability and acquired knowledge (Bee & Boyd, 2010). A lower IQ can compensate for acquired knowledge. People with higher IQ’s will perform better than a person with a lower IQ. This also applies to student learning. Children with a lower IQ need effective strategies for processing information. These students have to acquire a vast amount of information on any subject before they can perform as well as their peers with higher IQs.…

During my first round of practicum, I went to a kindergarten classroom with around 20 to 25 students in the classroom. I went to Miller Elementary and Mrs. Schuchard was my cooperative teacher. I walked in and was immediately placed with students to work with. In the morning the students were working on their daily five and phonics. One thing that I observed that I found very interesting is that the teacher had two rug areas for meetings. When she needed to teach the children for a longer period of time, she would tell them to move over to the other area in order to make them have a brain break and then refocus. It was very interesting to see how effective just a little amount of movement was for these kindergarteners.…

“In an effective classroom students should not only know what they are doing. They should also know why and how.” Harry Wong is an educational speaker that tries to help teachers be able to not only educate their students, but also teach them how to comprehend and logically think. Even at Tell City Jr.-Sr. High School, there are a variety of different types of teachers; moreover, this affects the atmosphere of their classrooms. Many outsiders may see our school as boring and being the same as any old school. For the students, every single classroom has a different atmosphere that they either love or greatly dislike.…

Inquiry- Target child is emerging in this skill set. Z is only beginning to recognize experiences and draw scientific conclusions from exploration. I observed playing at the water table, watching what the ice cubes did when in contact with his skin, and the room temperature. Z melting the ice cubes into water, and pouring the water onto the non-melted ice. In addition, I’ve observed Z make predictions about science experiments. Z has not shown signs of problem solving curiosity. Also, I have not seen Z communicate his learning/discovery through observation. Z would share experiences if prompted, but he is not advanced enough in inquiry to make such efforts.…
