Flipbooks
A flip book is a book with a series of pictures that vary gradually from one page to the next, so that when the pages are turned rapidly, the pictures appear to animate by making motion or some other change. This is called persistence of vision. Flip books are mainly created as books for children because they enjoy to be involved in the book. There may also be books made for adults. Flip books are normally made from one book but sometimes they can be added features in a book or magazine.
The book is made by a person drawing a picture on a piece of paper in a book, and then on the next page, drawing the picture again but with a very slight alteration.
Advantages of flipbooks
An advantage of flipbooks is that they engage the reader so they can join in and be part of the book. Another advantage is that anyone can make a flipbook; the only difference is that more artistic people will make better books. Flipbooks are also very cheap to make as they only require a notepad and pencil, unless someone wanted to make a more professional one. If they did than this would include colours and maybe other drawing/measuring objects.
Disadvantages of flipbooks
It’s hard to do as you wish and you must be a good drawer or the pictures will not appear to be animated. Also, you have to draw the same picture continuously with only minor adjustments and this is a disadvantage because it takes a lot of time, concentration and patience to make a good flipbook. Finally, if one page is wrong than the book will not look as professional as some parts will be out of place and it will not run as smooth.
