DACA Should Not Be Abolished

“I felt I was finally given a decent chance to be somebody in this country,” said Jamie Rangel when Obama announced DACA. There are many children that do not have a say in where they are born or where they are brought. Many children are born in another country, but are raised in the U.S. illegally. Children who were brought here illegally should not be punished for something they could not change. DACA gives these children a chance for a better life and more opportunities with them not having to leave. They should have the same privileges to education, to work, and to stay in the country. DACA is a program that protects undocumented immigrants brought into the U.S. as children. It helps them have privileges they would not have had without this program. These children have a chance for a better education and more possibilities. DACA gives them the chance to enroll in college and legally secure jobs (US
Immigration). These changes can make their lives better than they ever thought they could be. Children should not have to change their own lives for something they could not have changed.
According to an online article, “The Obama Administration felt minors are brought into the U.S. illegally should not be at fault for literally existing” (Here's What). It is not something they could have changed, but it could be fixed if we worked as a whole to deal with it. When they started DACA, it helped strengthen the economy. According to an online site, “Positively affected the economy more generally, which benefits all Americans” (DACA Recipients&rsquo). Helping with the economy is a major benefit because the economy is a large part of our day to day lives. The site also states, “Earning higher wages, which translates into higher tax revenue and economic growth” (DACA Recipients&rsquo). This is also a major impact, proving that they are just like anyone else, no matter where they came from. Even though DACA has multiple benefits, many people are having a problem with what DACA does. They feel that it is taking jobs away from the people who were born in
America.
According to an online site, “More people within a community means more competition for available jobs” (15 Pros). There are people who have an issue with the thought of having less jobs. Many people also argue that they are illegal, so they do not have the right to be here. There are some reasons people see that it could be issue, but there are arguments for both sides. There are certain topics about DACA that some would see as disadvantages. Having jobs given to those willing to work hard should not be seen as an issue. It is giving everyone a chance to succeed in their life. As stated in the site, Center for American Progress, “The data show that 91 percent of respondents are currently employed” (DACA Recipients&rsquo). Most of the people who have DACA are working because they want to have a life for themselves. They have the goals and ambition to do great for however long they can. DACA has affected many people’s lives for the better. It has given them a real chance to make the most of their opportunities. People who came here as children, have grown up the same as most kids in the U.S. The program is helping the kids who had no choice, get a choice in their future and live.
