DFAT Personal Statement
I want to work at Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) because I want to be a part of the development of Australia’s global, regional and bilateral interests. I feel that the experiences and skills I have developed over the past 5 years during my time working and studying have helped me grow and are a reason behind my outstanding passion and work ethic, which I know will transfer to any role within DFAT. Over this period, I have been fortunate to work and study with people from a wide variety of nations. This includes not only building relationships with people that have different cultural backgrounds around the world, but also culturally diverse Australians as well. I truly believe this can be found in all aspects of my life. Firstly, my current position as an Administrative Officer at the Queensland State Government’s Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Partnerships (DATSIP) has provided me with a new understanding on issues that the Indigenous population of Queensland faced and are currently facing. Study has also helped hone my written and oral communication skills as well as developing high-level analytical skills in my work.
