Resumé.
Under en konference i Paris bliver en amerikansk symbolforsker, Robert Langdon, ringet op midt om natten på sit hotelværelse. Museumsdirektøren på Louvre er fundet myrdet inde på museet, og på gulvet ved siden af ham er der skrevet en mystisk, kodet meddelelse.
Langdon får følgeskab af den franske kryptograf Sophie Neveu og sammen hvirvles de ind i en hæsblæsende jagt, hvor det efterhånden går op for dem at de er oppe mod en meget magtfuld mod-stander. Hvis ikke de kan gennemskue det net af mystiske meddelelser der dukker op, vil morderen gå fri, plus at en ældgammel sandhed vil være tabt for evigt. Langdon og Neveu har opdaget at mange af de mystiske meddelelser har forbindelse til Da Vincis værker, der er fyldt med hentydnin-ger til en af de største hemmeligheder gennem tiderne. Den Hellige Gral.
Der udspiller sig en lang uafbrudt jagt efter hemmeligheden. Modstanderne er konstant i hælene på Langdon og Neveu, som også konstant er lige på kanten til at opklare det store mysterium. De fin-der ud af den virkelige historie om Neveu´s familie og deres historie. De finder også ud af hvor Gralen befinder sig, men beslutter sig for ikke at offentliggøre hemmeligheden.

Tiden.
A) Selve historien udspiller sig på ca. to døgn. Den starter en aftenen i Paris og fortsætter om morgenen i London et døgn indtil næste morgen hvor Biskop Aringarosa ser solens mor-genstråler. Så flytter historien til Skotland hvor Neveu sent på eftermiddagen finder sin familie.

B) Handlingen foregår lidt efter år 2000 da der var rygter om at i årtusindeskiftet skulle hemmeligheden afsløres men det blev den ikke.

Fortæller.
Den fortælles i 3. person. Man følger mange personer gennem handlingen. Man ser det fra deres synspunkt, hvad de tænker og føler.

Miljøbeskrivelse.
Den foregår mest i Paris og i London. To store kæmpe byer med mange historiske
