Dabbley: A Short Story
Dabbley was brought into a rich family who claimed lands and titles, so he lead a life of extravagance. His dad was a noble Lord Commander of the Kings Shadow Guards who were the rulers defenders and personal guard. Dabbley himself was an apprentice to a Master swordsman of the Shadow Brothers-a paid professional assassin group who were enlisted by kings and queens and lords and any individual who could bear the cost of their services. Dabbley had two brothers and a sister, his older brother Dominique la Denze was 3 years more seasoned and was allocated to an elite guard called the Black Sould, his younger sister Jessica was training to become a Dark Sister-a band of sorcerers who fight alongside the Padru army, and his brother Patrique who …show more content…
They had to be careful when footing because they could not even see their hands as it was so dark, taking each step with care otherwise it could be their last. The rain pummeled them against the cliff face, it made the journey even worse as they were fleeing from the Black Sould. Once the rocks had passed Dabbley gazed upon the mountains searching for any other loose debris, but before Dabbley could react a small stone hit him in the face forcing him to lose control of his footing, slipping on the moss coated stone. Before he could even comprehend what happened he was plummeting to his death. In a split second Ishka reached out for his hand clamping onto his arm lifting him from certain death. Juddering, struggling to lift her companion from death, she swings him from left to right until finally he is able to pull himself up. With a grin Dabbley sarcastically says "well, that was interesting we should do that again sometime." Ishka laughs under her breath before saying "I can't …show more content…
Ishkas body turned quicker than Dabbley imagined she would. A massive ash colored stone was thrown pummeling into the mountain above causing yet another rock slide but this was on a far bigger scale than the last. They both ran towards the far end of the path running to a crack in the side of the wall, pushing themselves to fit in. Dabbley protected Ishka when small glass like stones fell from the sky smashing down towards them. When they finally got all the way through the entrance they struggled to breathe from all the dust still settling in the air, they couldn't see a thing. All they could hear was the silent sound of water droplets falling from the ceiling, the sound of their of own heartbeats, and the breathing from something far bigger then Dabbley or Ishka, something with black scales blending in with the darkness. Dabbley squinted his eyes to adjust from the darkness and saw something large move, moving hastily towards
