Dagmar’s father was Dr. Julius Fantl and her mother’s name was Irena Fantlova. She had a younger sister named Rita Lieblova. Dagmar never talked and mention about her relatives to others and even her daughter. Her location that she grew up in is located in Bohemia, in a small town named Kutna Hora. Dagmar said her childhood was very happy and quite normal until she was deported to the Terezin concentration camp in June 1942. Dagmar had a friend named Dasha that she met after the war was over. Dagmar and her family had no religious significance meaning they didn’t celebrate many holidays that was celebrated by others. When she was younger, she experienced many events during her lifetime.

She was very close to going into the chambers until an accident happened when the soldiers wrote the wrong year of birth for her.
