Dear Diary,
This fine evening the telephone in the house rang again, this time it was that lovely officer from Camp Taylor. I believe that he is the one I met the other day while having a ride with my roadster. To busy today, we arranged an encounter for tomorrow. The lovely Jordan Baker was also taking fresh air, it is not good to stay home all day, busy looking after personal issues. I am like an idol to her, Jordan that is, that sweet girl. Sad that I won’t be able to accompany her to meet those pleasant young officers when she grows a little older, but by that time I will already have my own classy companion. We will buy a gigantic front-line house, with huge windows were air always come in, and there is no need, therefore, to walk outside the house- it is sometime too hot out there.
Tomorrow evening I have already arranged on meeting, hopefully, a very pleasant man. Wearing my white lovely dress, that one that lifts a little because of the wind, I am sure to cause a delightful impression. He might even fall in love with me!

Dear Diary,
Crossing the lilac-blue lilies, the just mowed grass; there I met the smart and clean-cut lieutenant. Jay Gatsby. He starred at me for a while, and it looked as if the world had just stopped. The birds were singing and the white-pink butterflies were fluttering around as they new something special was happening. His sparkly eyes looked close at me, those eyes that look as if they have seen what others haven’t, deep eyes that hide something- still don’t know what, though.
We chatted away all evening! Such a delightful pass of time. Oxford, Paris, Venice, Rome... so many places seen by such young eyes. One day he will take me with him, he has promised, and Jay is a man of honor- wealthy also, we will definitely have a fabulous time, with all those places to visit, and people to meet.
I have decided that I need no more. Love is what I see when he look’s at me, and love is what I want to continue seeing. Future arrangements with the Camp Taylor´s officers are over.

Dear Diary,
Jay left. War needs the participation of outstanding men like him- and Jay is the best. When he departed, I went to New York to see him off. Mother didn’t direct her words to me when I came back, rumors had spread through Louisville. It had been, however, certainly the finest month ever. However, Jay still hasn’t comeback- how unfortunate of me! A cold and gloomy year has passed without any notice of him. And my mum is becoming impatient; soon I should be finding a graceful companion. I have met a fine young man from Chicago- such a gentleman! He has taken me to visit marvelous and wonderful places- has promised me, of course, to retake our journey. He is definitely a very pleasant man. And, my parents love him; they say he is all that a man should be.
Maybe pleasing them isn’t such a bad idea after all- they do know better than myself.
Rationale
Through this diary I tried to show how Daisy felt when she met Gatsby. I believe that Daisy, even though she was very conscious about money and materialism, was also partly in love with Gatsby.
I try to show her innocent and playful side in the first diary entry; “Wearing my white lovely dress, that one that lifts a little because of the wind, I am sure to cause a delightful impression. He might even fall in love with me!” “by that time I will already have my own classy companion. We will buy a gigantic front-line house, with huge windows were air always come in..” With this phrase, my intention was to emphasize how Daisy is, to some extent, extremely naive. She believes that everything will go as planned. With this phrase, I also try to show how Daisy only thinks that marriage, a nice and big house, is the most important.
In the second diary entry, Daisy is in love with Gatsby. In the book, when Jordan is telling Nick the story about Daisy and Gatsby, she says that she saw them “…engrossed in each other..”. I tried to reflect this on her diary entry, when she says “He starred at me for a while, and it looked as if the world had just stopped. The birds were singing and the white-pink butterflies were fluttering around as if they new that something special was happening.” However, I also add small parts were her materialistic personality appears, “wealthy also, we will definitely have a fabulous time, with all those places to visit, and people to meet.”
Maybe Daisy loved Gatsby, however, because of the influences of those times, and the sense for materialistic needs that was very present in her surroundings- like her parents; she would have realized that she couldn’t wait for someone that will maybe never come back, and waste the opportunity of finding another love. Later on, she grows colder, realizing that in the world (her world), money is everything. This is when she meets Tom.
In the third diary entry I want to show this change. In the second diary entry, Daisy is innocent enough as to blindly believe that Jay will definitely come back to her- which is not impossible, but only very difficult; “... and Jay is a man of honor..”
During the whole Diary, I use words like “delighted”, “wonderful”, etc... Because these are words that Daisy would frequently use. I also try to write with a bubbly style, like she normally does; “The birds were singing and the white-pink butterflies were fluttering around as they new something special was happening.”.

‘Let’s not start Daisy. Not now,’ he said softly but sternly. His broad hand closed around hers and he tucked her arm under his before he resumed his silent stillness. The only part of him he allowed to move was one tiny muscle in his chiselled jaw which twitched in persistent protest against the reality that he and Daisy could not be as they were five years ago. Daisy was the incarnation of beauty, of gentleness and of wealth, all of which drove Gatsby. She was the green grass on the other side of the fence. In Gatsby’s eyes the splendour of their past remained his destination; it was still unquestionably tangible. In reality however he had only just caught a glimpse of it and it was receding further from him into the realm of fantasy, the quality of Daisy’s love for him, a mere delusion. It was at that moment Gatsby wondered if he would be forever reaching out to the green light across the Sound to grasp nothing but the darkness of the night, but he shock the thought from his…

Greetings everyone, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Nick Carraway. This may be surprising to most of you, but I’ve honestly only ever been drunk twice in my life. Quite unusual in the year of 1922 you may say. But something even more surprising is that only once in my life have I truly encountered a man of wonders, and that man was Jay Gatsby. Jay really was the landmark of the American Dream, a gentleman with passion and power that never failed to astonish you time after time. He was someone who regardless of the toll, persistently offered you his hospitality. I remember first moving next door to Jay, hearing about all these extravagant parties he threw, thinking he did it all for fame and publicity. But Jay wasn’t like all…

One warm afternoon in West Egg Long Island, New York a young man come into my office. He had a very charismatic, charming vibe that I felt immediately when he walked in. He smiled at me as he slowly walked into the office and it was “one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it” (48). His smile made you believe that this was a good man who made you feel comfortable. He looked like a strong “ young elegant roughneck” not looking “a year or two over thirty”(48). As he came in he introduced himself as Jay Gatsby and asked me how I was doing adding in “old sport” at the end. Slowly as we began to tale I noticed his “elaborate formality of speech that just missed being absurd” (48). He had a specific…

I saw Gatsby walk across his freshly cutgrass and on to my over grown, weed infested, disordered mess I call my lawn. He made his way to my door. When I answered it he said cheerfully “Hello old sport would you like to come to my place and have a drink”. I would love to I said. Once we got to his estate we took a seat on his handcrafted cathedra. We started to talk about the war we both served in together. He had spoken about how he had meet Daisy before the war and how they had loved each other. “Old sport once I got drafted to the army we wrote to each other every agonizing lonely day. The letters would come in and go out at a constant flow. She would always express her love and her desire to me to return at any moment. After a while the letters came back slowly and soon enough she had stopped replying. I replied with a troublesome affection. He went on, but one day I had gotten a letter. I was so exited it was from Daisy; I couldn’t wait to see what she had said to me and what was going on in her life. At that moment his face was absent of any amusement, he said. But once I opened the letter she had said, “Gatsby how I have missed you I had written you a letter but it had gotten ruined in a bathtub so here I go I will try again. Since you’ve been gone I have meet someone else. His name is Tom. We had a baby girl named Pammy. She is the cutest thing. I love you Gatsby I just couldn’t wait knowing that you could die at any moment or think the war would never end. So I had to move on.” As I looked against Gatsby I noticed that there was a shine in his eye and a drop falling down his cheek. At that time I also noticed that Gatsby was reading the actual letter and as I was looking he was folding it so precise and placed it back into his pocket. He wiped his tears and looked at me and said, “You know old sport I still love this girl, she stole my heart”. I didn’t want to be rude but I had to use the…

Mr. Gatsby preferred not to share his personal life with the people around him. He once told me that he was from the Middle West and his family was deceased. He said he served in the military during World War One as a dedicated captain. Mr. Gatsby received a medal in the Great War, which says, “Major Jay Gatsby, For Valour Extraordinary.” He told people and myself he was an Oxford man who came back to the United States to pursue an entrepreneurial business. Although Mr. Gatsby never shared his business dealings, he maintained a luxurious lifestyle and was known for his extravagant parties. Gatsby welcomed everyone to his soirées to enjoy his hospitality; that is how we met and we became close ever since. As I was reflecting on his death I thought, “Gatsby turned out all right at the end; it [was] what preyed on Gatsby, what foul dust floated in the wake of his dreams that temporarily closed out my interest in the abortive sorrows and short winded elations of men” (2).…

She is expected to be like other proper women of that time; therefore, she is. She is not independent and relies on her husband Tom for everything. In the novel, "The Great Gatsby," Daisy can not decide between her husband Tom and her past lover Gatsby. In chapter seven it states, "As Tom left the room again Daisy got up and went over to Gatsby, and pulled his face down kissing him on the mouth." She then murmured, "You know I love you." This shows that she does not have a personality of her own and that she can not make decisions alone. In chapter one, Miss Baker states, "We ought to plan something." Daisy then replies, "All right, what will we plan?" She then turned to Nick, the narrator, helplessly and asked, "What do people plan?" She lives an exuberant lifestyle with her wealthy husband and she gets everything she wants. In chapter one Nick states, "Their house was even more elaborate that I expected, a cheerful red and white Georgian Colonial mansion overlooking the bay." Money is the source of her contentment as she states, "I'm p-paralyzed with…
