Dalai Lama Two Levels Of Compassion
According to the Dalai Lama the two levels of compassion include biological and extended expressions. Biological compassion includes the unconditional affection of a mother to her child, extended compassion refers to concern of human-beings regardless of societal beliefs and opinions. Generally, most individuals only extend their compassion to loved ones, or those within their belief systems. This way of showing compassion often leads to recrimination and resentment towards other groups of people with differing ethical beliefs. As intelligent and perceptive animals, we are capable to expand our levels of compassion to embrace humanity as a whole. Ideally, we should be able to lend a caring hand to another without judging or questioning them

Upon comparing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Dalai Lama it becomes apparent that the two share many similar doctrines and beliefs. Although they come from two totally different backgrounds it seems as though their overall goals and dreams coincide. The most striking similarity is that both men advocated/advocate for peace and nonviolent solutions to problems. While they may have approached matters differently the goal was the same. Analyzing both men one begins to see that they are admired by so many people because of their philosophies.…

Dictionary.com describes compassion as a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering (2012). Bush describes compassion fatigue as a complex emotion that allows caregivers to hold and sustain themselves in emotional balance while holding patients’ despair in one hand and their hopefulness in the other (2009). Being able to identify the warning signs, know the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of you as a caregiver, and knowing different coping skills and ways to deal with the stressors of juggling life’s activities can help us as caregivers to keep ourselves in balance.…

To me, compassion is what pushes us to meet someone in their pain, in their hurt, or in their struggle. The first time I remember receiving compassion was when I was in second grade on a middle-of-the-night flight from Germany to the States. Due to my ear tubes, I was experiencing great ear pain, and a flight attendant noticed my distress. She looked to my mom and asked if she could massage my hand in order to relieve the pain. She took the time to massage my hand, knowing the correct pressure points to alleviate my ear pain, and low and behold, it worked. This flight attendant had to have felt compassion towards my situation and then had a desire to act, in accordance with the Miriam-Webster definition. This is just one small story, but it highlights how far compassion can…

Therefore, maintaining a professional standard constantly will ensure any misinterpretation of my assistance and support—as love. That said, my own behaviour towards clients could also take on an unprofessional role, which would cloud my judgment and the client's well-being and health wouldn’t be foremost in my mind. In addition, clients might have difficulty with my religious belief or race and refuse my aid. My own bias towards clients can as well encumber my ability to help and provide the best care to my clients.…
