STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT ASSIGNMENT
A CASE STUDY OF: DAN ODIETE & CO. ESTATE SURVEYORS AND VALUERS.
Dan Odiete & CO Estate Surveyors and Valuers is an organization that deals mainly on real estate (land and landed properties) registered by the Nigerian Institute of Estate surveyor and Valuers (NIESV) and the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration board of Nigeria (ESVRBON). Its business activities includes; Buying and selling of landed properties, leasing and letting of landed properties (real estate consultancy), acquisition and compensation of landed properties, the valuation of plant/machineries and landed properties.
Dan Odiete & CO is a Nigerian indigenous company that has caved-out a niche for itself in the Nigerian property market. It was found in February 1979 by Daniel Odiete (the principal partner). It has 5 branches scattered all over the major cities in the country Asaba, Warri, Sapele, Lagos, Abuja and has its Headquarters in Benin City home of the Ancient Benin Kingdom. In 1979 it was just the principal partner and his secretary, but today, Dan Odiete & CO can boast of staff strength of over 100 people in all its branches including the Headquarters.
Daniel E Odiete who is the founder and principal partner of Dan Odiete & CO is a fellow and a long standing member of the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and valuers (NIEVS) a governing and registering body of the Nigerian property market. He rose to be the second vice national president of the association from 2000-2002 and since had never looked back. Over the years, 5 members of staff have been inducted to become partners and help expand the corporation. This has helped differentiated Dan Odiete & CO from other real estate firm.
