In order to develop a better understanding of political science, my field of study, I contacted a local attorney who currently practices in the field professionally. Attorney Lawrence Elassal is, essentially, a political scientist working at his own law firm, which is located in Dearborn, Michigan. I contacted him via email, which he responded to relatively quickly, allowing me to schedule an appointment to interview him regarding his knowledge of and role within the professional field of political science. As an attorney at law, in completing his daily tasks, Mr. Elassal regularly fulfills the typical duties of a political scientist. He noted his routine legal researching, as well as his regular analyses of various forms of data and information. Additionally, he described his purpose in evaluating the efficacy of currently implemented legal policies with regards to both society and the government. However, aside from researching and analyzing legal files and documents, Mr. Elassal is also responsible for writing an immense amount of legal documentations for filing. Furthermore, the attorney described some of his major intercommunication responsibilities in detail. I started the interview by inquiring about Mr. Elassal's legal background, starting with his collegiate education. He told me that he graduated from the Michigan State University College of Law, and immediately afterward, was hired as an Associate Attorney with a firm in Royal Oak, Michigan. The attorney also noted his expertise and specialization in civil litigation matters, stating: “Before I knew it, I was hired by the United States Department of Defense as a Federal Attorney Advisor.
