Danaher Case Study
Introduction
This case study is conducted to understand how information systems can help Danaher work leaner. Organizations now have to use technology to transform their business. Since the creation of the internet, it has brought many opportunities for innovative e-business that will be based on for new approaches to the business. The more businesses advertise on social media like Facebook, Twitter and other social media. There are also a lot of new information technology and information systems to help businesses to achieve their goals and make their work more effectively and more efficiently (Charts, & Reynolds, 2010). One example of a business using information technology and information systems to achieve their goals better is Shell Chemicals manufacturers. Shell Chemicals produces the software, SIMON was introduced to replace the old market Elemica portals for supply chain management company. Using SIMON company 's supply chain to be more efficient in terms of cost (Dave Chaffey, 2011). Danaher face some problems when working with the lack of reasonable assistance of information technology and information systems, and we can learn how Microsoft uses information technology and information systems of work to get the job done better.
Danaher divides its six billion dollar business in three segments, namely, professional instrumentation, industrial technologies, and tools and components. Danaher Sensors and Controls is one of three business niche focusing in the technology industry segments. Since Danaher believes in lean manufacturing, the firm focuses on strategies to further improve manufacturing processes and eliminate non-productive time. The lean manufacturing applies waste reduction and process improvements to maintain low inventory levels. (Larenernest 2010)
