Social Networking Do 's * Set profiles to private * Read saftey tips on ALL SN websites * Disscuss online privacy
Social Networking Don 'ts * No addresses, phone numbers, or other identifiable information

* Once posted online....it is there to stay * Don 't add people you don 't know as friends! You don 't know if they are who they say they are...

Benefits of Social NetworkingSocial networking can be a good way to communicate with people who have similar interests or goals. You can connect with new people and "meet" them. Thanks to social networking, being shy is nothing to fear! On Facebook, "poking" is like a handshake. You can easily make friends, while keeping up with the old ones. Social networking sites can also keep you updated on what 's going on on your campus, or in your town. You can advertise for different groups. Facebook is a great way to advertise. Facebook may not allow people with an ".edu" email to be on Facebook, but it is so easy just to make a new email and be someone you are not.Social networking sites also allow you to "create a positive self-image." You can have a totally seperate life. You don 't have to share the bad quailities about you; no one will ever know when they read your profile. How you set up your profile shows that you care about your reputation and about what others think of you (which isn 't always good to care about what others think about you). But whatever you do on your social networking site, social networks are a big part of everyone 's lives. Dangers of Social NetworkingMost social networks

In today’s society, billions of people across the world are accessing the internet multiple times a day. Why wouldn’t they? Many people have the internet on their smart phones, and at the touch of a button can check their email, their Twitter, their Facebook, their bank account balance, you name it. Any social networking site or application, actually, whether it be Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Youtube or something similar, it seems to easily suck up hours of a person’s day. Teens and children are accessing these sites while at school, and as soon as they get home from school. Adults are accessing these sites while at work and are often choosing to spend time checking their “walls” or profiles rather than spending time with their loved ones. Social networking causes children and adults to be lazy and overweight, less productive at school and work, distracted, and, ironically, causes them to be anti-“social.” For these reasons, social networking is bad for society and should not be used.…

The first reason why I think social networking sites are good for people is because you can connect with your friends, family, and work colleagues. For instance I cant see some of my family since they live in California. What I did was use my facebook account which abled me keep in touch with them. I believe that it is very important to have a strong connecting family. Keeping in touch with your family members and friends will make them think that you actually care about them. Then that will then grow a good connection with them.…

The Internet is one example of technology that has changed our world and the way we communicate with others. Whether you are in China or a small town in Texas, the World Wide Web has made it possible for communication anytime and almost anywhere. This has made communication easier, faster and sometimes more dangerous. For example, children are now exposed to a world that the adults in their lives never experienced and often times do not understand. Social Medias like Facebook, Twitter and Instant Messaging until recently were only visited and understood by the younger generation. Social medias can be fun and entertaining but also dangerous. Social Medias violate people’s privacy, expose inappropriate content to children and can make people unsafe.…
