great controversy in the United States for the following reasons and needs to be dealt with thoroughly.
Despite that border patrol goes through such great measures to prevent the dangers of the outside coming into the United States, it is inevitable for illegal immigration to fully dissolve with the borders so large.
People crossing illegally ruin the chances of those foreigners waiting in line patiently for a visa to become a U.S. citizen. Polls taken show that 81% Americans do not want to support any type of immigration status (Dallas Morning News). Due to the fact that aliens have killed citizens in order to cross the border, the United States government needs to recognize illegal immigration as a great safety breach that cannot be tolerated. Thousands of citizens have been brutally killed by illegal immigrants, which will not stop if America continues to support them being here (Lewis). President Barack Obama in 2014 passed the Executive Amnesty Act which allows illegal immigrants who have been in the U.S. for five years or more and whose children are legal residents to acquire work permits, social security numbers, and driver's licenses (Aldrich). The U.S. should suppress the illegals rather than passing laws rewarding them with amnesty and attracting asylum for those who have not yet crossed. jobs.
Illegals easily remove and replace American laborers, sometimes even highly skilled workers from jobs.
They accept under the table low wages which lead to them disrupting American workers families and weakening local social structures. As they cut the overall economic growth potential of the country, Americans are left unemployed while the illegal aliens are not only making a living but families in a country they do not belong in. Mike Williams, a lobbyist for the Florida Building and Construction Trades Council spoke up about him directly witnessing illegal immigrants pouncing construction jobs right up from the native borns fingers. He said, "I've witnessed myself the impact of [illegal] workers in this country taking jobs from people who should be on the work site - taxpaying citizens of this country," (Salierno). Statistically speaking, there are 7.4 million citizens unemployed in the U.S. and 8.1 out of 11 million illegal aliens are either employed or in search of work in the U.S. (Harris). Them drastically depressing the wages and working conditions of U.S. workers encourages the flouting of other U.S. laws. If the illegals are ignoring the immigration laws and employment the illegal aliens are continuously taking jobs, hurting the unemployed, and the
economy.
Smuggling in truckloads of drugs into the states has become the face of what individuals think of when illegal immigration is brought up. Accompanied with drug smuggling comes the burglaries, assaults, and violence which threatens the safety of the country (Wolfgang). Daily, illegals run through people's ranches destroying their fences and robbing their homes. One man, Dob Cunningham, said he cannot even walk outside anymore without a source of protection because drug smugglers take the same paths the harmless illegal families use (Lewis). These drug smugglers transport tens of thousands of pounds of marijuana and cocaine by backpack across ranches like his each year. 17 million pounds of marijuana were seized in the past six years noting the large number that goes unaccounted for in streets and hands of Americans. It is these drugs smuggled in that leads addicts to ruin their lives leaving people to suffer in rehab or die.
As more U.S. citizens voices are heard and as more and more people hate on illegal immigration, the bigger the problem gets. That is where people are today, the biggest and most controversial problem. A secure worker verification system must be enforced along with tougher border patrol and blockades to crack down on those illegals. Individuals must understand that although illegal immigrants come to the United States for a better and more qualified life, they are simply hurting the United States, through violence, drug smuggling, disease, and driving down wages for the hard working Americans. As one can see Illegal immigration has emerged as a great debate in the United States for the following reasons and needs to be dealt with thoroughly.
