    Amir Vs Baba

    • 438 Words

Two words that characterize Baba are: fearless and leader. To be fearless means to be "possessing or exhibiting courage." To be a leader is a person that “rules, guides, or inspired others." When Amir and Baba were fleeing Kabul, he was willing to sacrifice his life to keep the Russian guard from raping a woman that was traveling with them. "… Karim cleared his throat, dropped his head. Said the soldier wanted a half hour with the lady in the back of the truck... That was when Baba stood up. It was my turn to clamp a hand on his thigh, but Baba pried it lose, snatched his leg away. When he stood, he eclipsed the moonlight. “I want you to ask this man something," Baba said. He said it to Karim but looked directly at the Russian officer. Ask him where his shame is. He says he'll enjoy putting a bullet bullet in you almost as much as..." Karim trailed off, but nodded his head toward the young woman who had caught the guard's eye. The soldier flicked his unfinished cigarette and unholstered his handgun. So this is where Baba dies, I thought. This is how it's going to happen. In my head, I said a prayer I had learned in school. "Tell him I'll take a thousand of his bullets before I let this indecency take place," Baba said.” At that moment it showed how fearless Baba was. He was willing to die for a lady they were traveling…

Some basketball players have strange free throw shooting routines. There are a number of reasons why they perform this act: they're meant to simply have a good grip of the ball (it can get real wet at times during the game), to establish a signature style, to improve free throw shooting, or being plainly superstitious. Who are these players? Let's check it out!…

He was also a very stubborn man. His stubbornness is part of the reason we are all here today but it is also why he is well respected by most of you. He never took no for an answer and when he was told he couldn’t do something, he went the extra mile just to prove that wrong. I remember that when I was a child, my father built an orphanage in Kabul. Although he had no architectural experience, he drew the blueprints and when he was told to hire an architect, he refused. In this article, Radley Balko’s, main argument is whether obesity should be personal issue or whether the government should take action. As I was reading this article I did agree to Radley Balko to some of the things he was talking about. Such as when he said,” instead of manipulating or intervening in the array of food options available to American consumers, our government ought to be working to foster a sense of responsibility in the ownership of our own health and well-being.” In my opinion is your choice what goes in body. You should be responsible of what you eat. I also don’t agree with him when he said, “the best way to alleviate the obesity public health crisis is to remove obesity from the realm of public health.” Because obesity…

After visiting the Mcnay Art Museum, one of the many intricate paintings that caught my attention was the melancholy gaze of the Greek symbol, Niobe. Niobe by Alexey von Jawlensky was in the 19th and 20th century exhibition where it stood out from the others with its color pallet, materials used, and its historical meaning behind the painting. In the short story "The Bet" by Anton Checkhov a wager is made between a banker and lawyer that was meant to prove either of their opinions on death penalty to be right, or best the option. The banker believes that death penalty would be the best punishment for serious crimes and that life imprisonment is ineffective; while the lawyer feels that death is too extreme and life in prison would be enough consequence. By the end of the story neither are proven to be right due to the lawyer not truly serving a life sentence, the banker almost making a hasty terrible decision, and the lawyer while in his prison sentence being given special treatments that people in prison would not get.…
