It is Mr. Sawyer’s opinion within reasonable toxicological certanty that, upon the analyses conducted to date and facts in the case, including the history of Det. Broehm’s incident, there is reasonable probable cause and sufficient evidence that the Mosquito Magnet® was the proximal cause of Mrs. McCool’s death. According to him there is evidence that the “Patriot Mosquito Magnet” (the McCool’s trap is an Independence model) is capable of releasing sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions within the range consistent with induction of restrictive airways which may have caused Mrs. McCool to suffer a transient hypoxia and dizziness that in turn caused her to fall onto the pool deck and…
Pat Donelson is a 67-year-old female who presented today with complaints of pain in her left lower calf. The pain started about 3-4 months ago as an “aching/cramping” pain that she described as mild in nature. She noticed the pain while walking and with adequate rest the pain subsides. Mrs. Donelson discontinued use of Lipitor because she thought it might be causing her leg pain. She also presented with complaints of recurrent headaches, a morning cough, and loss of hair on her effected leg. Mrs. Donelson has a history of periodic angina and heart palpitations; however, at the present time she is asymptomatic.…

The case, of which I choose to present, is that of Emmet Till. In the summer of 1955, 14-year-old African-American Emmett Till had gone on vacation from Chicago to visit family in Mississippi. He was shopping at a store owned which was owned by Roy and Carolyn Bryant and someone said that Emmett Till whistled at Mrs. Bryant, a white woman. At some point around August 28, Emmett Till was kidnapped, beaten, shot in the head, had a large metal fan tied to his neck with barbed wire, and was thrown into the Tallahatchie River. His body was soon recovered, and an investigation was opened. It took less than four weeks for the case to go to trial; Roy Bryant and his half-brother J.W. Milam were accused of the murder of which an all-white, all male…
The dictionary says that a hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. This definition couldn’t possibly describe Fredrick Douglas, Jim, and Huckleberry Finn any better. While of course, these three are certainly not the first that come to mind when thinking of heroes, they all completely fit the bill. Douglas is a hero because of his journey out of slavery and because of his moral development, and how his story affected nations. While Huck and Jim go through a similar journey by escaping from the slavery of society, and through their moral developments, they started difficult, but important, conversations about race and prejudice at the time. However, as they compare, they are all…

Booneville is a city in Prentiss County, which is located in the northeastern corner of Mississippi. Prentiss County was founded in 1870 and was named after Seargent Smith Prentiss. Booneville is the county seat of Prentiss County, Mississippi. It was incorporated in 1861 and was named after R.H. Boone, a relative of Daniel Boone, the early American pioneer. The Boone family settled here in 1859. By the year 1850, the region comprising the county became populated with emigrants form Virginia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Alabama. These settlers were mainly Anglo-Saxon or British. The land of Booneville was bought by B.B Boone, G.W. Williams, and W.P Curlee from the Chickasaw tribesman Le-Ho-Yea. During the American Civil War, the Battle of Booneville took place on July, 1 1862. Confederate General Braxton Briggs tested the power of his army by attacking Union forces there. This battle ended in victory for the Union and would lead to the promotion of Phil Sheriden, a Union hero.…
In 1890, the Census Bureau declared that, due to brokenness by isolated bodies of settlement, the American frontier could hardly be considered to exist. “It can not, therefore, any longer have a place in the census reports,” stated the Bureau. However, three years later, one man--historian and frontier expert Frederick Jackson Turner--believed the frontier held the key to explaining American development on an economic, social, and historical level. His paper, “The Significance of the Frontier in American History” stressed the impact that the frontier--and the moving frontier line/westward expansion--had on the pioneers. “This perennial rebirth, this fluidity of American life, this expansion westward with its new opportunities, its continuous touch with the simplicity of primitive society, furnish the forces dominating American character,” (Turner, 19). He believed that the existence of free land to the west shaped the American character, made America more democratic, and was, frankly, the single most important experience in shaping American history.…

Have you ever been in a place of green with forests and animals everywhere? Well, where some of the Native Americans lived, there were such things. Native American tribes such as the Crow lived in the Great Plains. The Crow tribe of the Great Plains were nomadic and followed the buffalo migrations which provided their food. This tribe spent a good part of the year living in camps that could easily be dismantled and moved to follow the buffalo migrations. Other tribes of the plains were more sedentary. These tribes lived in permanent villages year round.…
