Introduction:

The course focuses on the term and practical orientation of Network Infrastructure and other software to enable students to apply the skills for Data Communication and knowledge to solve network problem in functional area of network management.

Learning Objectives:

The course will develop the skills to manage business telecommunication and network infrastructures. It will equip managers with the foundations of the technical, economic, and political structure of modern communication systems. The course will emphasize design and management of large-scale enterprise networks.

Teaching Methodology:

Mode of delivery would be primarily through lectures, assignments, presentations, practical.

Course Contents:

1. Internetworking & Internet Protocols:: Internetworking Basics, Internetworking Model, Ethernet Networking, Network topologies, Ethernet Cabling, Wireless Networking, OSI Reference Model:- Application layer, Presentation layer, Session layer, Transport layer, Network layer, Data link layer, Physical layer. TCP/IP & DoD Model, Binary to Decimal & Hexadecimal Conversion, IP Addressing, IP Terminology, Private IP Addressing. Broadcast Addresses.

2. IP Subnetting & VLSM: Subnetting Basic, Subnetting Class A-C Address, VLSM design, Implementing VLSM, Troubleshooting IP addressing. IP4 and IP6,

3. Introduction to Cisco, IP Routing: Cisco Router user interface, Command-line interface, Router & Switch Administrative function, Router interface. Routing Basics, IP routing Process.

4. Virtual LANs (VLANs), Layer 2 Switching: VLAN Basic, VLAN Memberships, Identifying VLANs, VLAN Trucking Protocol, Routing b/w VLANs. Switching Services, Spanning Tree Protocol, LAN Switch types

5. Network Security & Cyber law: Security attacks, Security services, encryption methods, CRYPTOGRAPHY.

6. Cyber Law: overview of cyber law, business & financial issues in cyber law (online contracting, why online contract law important, benefits to consumers, requirement of contract electronic signature, Sale tax in e-commerce)

CLASS POLICY:
Marks allocated for class participation and assignments. Late-coming is not allowed.

EVALUATION SCHEME:
Evaluation will be based on the following assessment

Project Report on cyber law 20 marks
Attendance 10 marks
Assignments 10 marks
Mid-term test 20 marks
End-of-module examination 40 marks
Total 100 marks
