ABSTRACT

This final year project aims to present an application that is able to deal with the comparing and modification of the metadata of the database. The application “Database Differentiator” works on databases i.e. it will compare the metadata of two databases and will generate SQL patch files.

In this application the comparison is done on the metadata i.e. structure of the database and not on the data of the database. Comparison has been provided by, taking database as the input, comparing the

When building a system for information, you have to decide how much responsibility for data management your software will take. A database can be rather large or it can be small depending on the information that is being stored. Request for information from a database are made in the form of a query or a question asking the database for particular information. All database management systems are not the same from a technical standpoint. They differ mostly in the way they organize their information internally. The internal organization can then determine how quickly and supplely the information can be extracted (Jupitermedia, 2011) .…

In this paper I am going to discuss about the database and software used in my construction company. Oracle database is a multi platform database, meaning it can run efficiently on any operating system and this makes Oracle flexible and more secure when compared to its competitors. Our Oracle database is running on a Sun server, using the Sun Solaris enterprise operating system. Oracle databases are an enterprise database system, only medium and large companies would need an enterprise database. Oracle Corporation uses RDBMS rational database management systems to maintain all data within the organization. Various data items can be organized according to their relationships with each other, such as the relationship of Employee name and Employee ID, rational databases give Oracle a great deal of flexibility when describing the relationship between data elements. Oracle follows Dr.Cobbs 12 rules on how a true RDBMS should be evaluated. The following are Cobb's 12 rules.…

“Establishing a relational database management system is a great way to increase data integrity, efficiency, ask questions, sort and filter data, provide stronger security, and share information in one concise design which is very user friendly if developed correctly. Relational databases allow the ability to cross-reference data stored by the business and as a result provide a higher level of integrity.” “The key to success is in the foundation of the database's design.” “Relationships of data must be accurately assessed and once this connection is established, the rest falls into place rather smoothly. (Goessl, 2009)”…

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (Montreal Police) have defined a youth gang as “An organized group of adolescents and/or young adults who rely on group intimidation and violence, and commit criminal acts in order to gain power and recognition and/or control certain areas of unlawful activity” (Public Safety Canada- National Crime Prevention Centre, 2007). Youth gangs have become an urban phenomenon and since the mid 1980’s youth gang violence has increased in amplitude and severity, although the crime rate amongst twelve to seventeen year olds has been decreasing. The Canadian Police Survey on Youth Gangs states that youth gangs are a present and growing concern within Canadian communities, but we have not yet reached the magnitude of severity that is present in the United States of America. According to various Canadian studies, it has been demonstrated that: youth becoming involved in gang related activity are getting younger in age; the level of violence within these groups is rising; that more female youth are joining gangs; school boards are reporting more gang violence within their institutions; school yard bullies are being replaced with groups of youth who perform acts of “swarming”; and that extortion and drug dealing are becoming daily routines in some Canadian communities.…

Although many varieties of sophisticated software are available for database construction, they impose very little restriction on their implemented form. Indeed, it would fly in the face of database philosophy to impose the form of implementation, for this would not encourage features like responsiveness to new requests (Bailey, Creel, Grossman, Gutti, and Sivakumar, 55-57). Thus each operational database is unique, even if the software used in constructing it is an industry standard. A piece of advice one gets from software manuals is to develop two mental pictures of one’s unique database. The first picture is of the contents of the database and the way it is organized; and the second picture is of what can be done with the contents.…

India’s traditionally strong links with Iran, and its increasingly robust relationship with the US, have put the India-Iran relationship firmly in the spotlight.
