Walker’s words were written in the 1800’s, but their influence is never going to be
forgotten. His statement was like a urgent call for the brutal reality of racism and
slavery in America before it was abolished and a demand to put an end to this
cruelty. Speaking about this, slavery in America began when the first African slaves
were brought to the North American colony of Virginia in 1619 and was practiced
throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries. Nowadays, people
would prefer to think that slavery does not exist anymore, but in fact, slavery still
exists all over the World, just in different forms.
