In addition to similarities, psalm 23 and psalm 27 also had differences. Along with the hard times that David faced in both psalms, he also faced good times as mentioned in psalm 27: 1-6. Another difference is psalm 27 is longer than psalm 23. Moreover, in psalm 27 David speaks of the goodness of God and prays to ask him to answer him and help him. However, in psalm 23, it only speaks of the blessings received from God.
Previously mentioned are the themes/focus of both psalms. In psalm 23, David emphasizes God’s mercy and in psalm 27, his focus is to trust in God. God’s mercy was expressed through His abundant blessings. Additionally, David showed trust in God when God was helping him defeat Goliath and when he says to have patience, God will answer your prayer, one day. The second point addressed was the literary devices present in both psalms. The literary devices are presented in a detailed analysis of psalm 23 and 27. Literary devices found were metaphor, symbolism and imagery. Lastly, similarities and differences were spoken of in the last chapter. In addition, to psalm 23 and 27, David has written several other chapters about God’s mercy, thanksgiving, God’s wisdom, peace, righteousness, etc. Just as David has encouraged many to put their trust in God and to seek Him in good and bad times, I would like to continue to encourage you to do the same.
